WWII - Strength of Wills Part Two

Introduction

Spoiler :

The year is 1922...

Europe is rebuilding after the destruction dealt by the

First World War. The Versailles Treaty was signed in

1919, concluding that Germany was the cause for outbreak

of war in 1914. Crushing indemnities were forced on

Germany. She lost much of her territory and was required

to pay reparations to the Allied powers for loss of life

and damages suffered by her hand. Austria-Hungary was

broken up creating the countries of Yugoslavia, Austria,

Hungary, Czechoslovakia, and Slovakia. The empire also

had territory annexed by Italy, Poland, and Romania.

The Russian Civil War still rages on, with the Red Army

gaining the upper hand. The Soviet Union is still not

recognized as a legitimate power. Meanwhile, in Germany

Adolf Hitler has risen to take control of the Nazi

Party. Recently, he had threatened to resign from the

party when a merger was proposed by discontented members

towards a like-minded political party. They thought the

merger would dilute Hitler's influence. With the threat

of their leaders resignation the merger crumbled,

because the members knew they needed funds from Hitler

attained from collections, his speeches, as well as

other sympathetic sources. Hitler responded by turning

the tables on the committee members and forced them to

accept him as formal leader of the party with

dictatorial powers.

Also, in Italy, Benito Mussolini is vying for power as

head of the Fascist Party. He had broken a deal with the

socialists in November 1921 and adopted a nationalist

program and founded the National Fascist Party.

Across the Atlantic the United States continues to keep

out of world affairs. Refusing to join the League of

Nations. Even though President Woodrow Wilson pushed for

membership. Americans as a whole view the nations of

Europe as conflict prone which could lead their country

into another war. This outcome went against any current

American interests.

What will happen next? Will National Socialism and

Fascism take hold? Will another war break out in the

future? Will the United States be drawn in? What about

Poland and Russia? These and many other questions will

be answered as you play this scenario.

This is RED modpack v 36 for unit diversity, these changes are for the WWII scenario only. It is not an updated version of Gedemon's mod.

You can find the modpack here. http://www.mediafire.com/download/qejkozftqprxf7k/R.E.D.+Modpack+%28v+36%29.zip

V.15 changes

Improved Dive Bombers. Added Gun Emplacements, Maginot line, Mannerheim line, Stalin Line, and there are four of these things defending Moscow. Added a city between Oran and Fes. Fes is under French control now. Many map and diplomacy tweaks. I have added a second map called PlayItalyGermany, which should make playing those two a bit more challenging. Norway has been weakened so Germany conquers it quite easily. Like in real life. I fixed it so the AI does not spam archaeologists. The happiness system has been tweaked. You should have plenty of happiness. This scenario is about war, not scrounging for happiness. I left GAs as they normally are, with extra happiness the +20% production from GAs helps civs build up more quickly.

V.18 changes

Turkey is no longer in permanent peace with the other civs.

How to install it? I don't see any instructions nor readme :(

The map is inside the mod folder.

WWIIEuropeNew (v 15).zip file goes to Documents\My Games\Sid Meier's Civilization 5\MODS folder. Unzip the file in the MODS folder.

1. Start the game go to mods. Load the mod then back out of the game. Go into the mod at Documents\My Games\Sid Meier's Civilization 5\MODS folder. Copy the map and paste it to the maps folder in Documents\My Games\Sid Meier's Civilization 5\Maps. The map is called WWIIEuropeNew.

2. Start the game again. Enable WWIIEuropeNew (v 15) mod. Choose single player, setup game. Then go to map type. Scroll down and find WWIIEuropeNew. Click back and click the load scenario button. Choose your civ. Then click start scenario.

Let me know if you need more help.

This is a fantastic scenario. Very well done and balanced.

Thank you. Tell me did you play as the United States? If you didn't did they do anything during the campaign? Some people say when you add North America to a Europe map the AI kind of sits over there and does its own thing. Let me know if this is the case.

Also, I am working on a Guadalcanal scenario.

I played as Germany. However in my experience America does get involved. They built a massive and intimating navy and attempted an attack of my coastal cities. However that didn't work because I am ambushed them with an aircraft carrier full of five dive bombers. Also Italy did very well, and throughout the game I was constantly competing for the top of the demographics with them. Unlike real WW2 Italy pulled its weight and then some. Surprisingly the Soviet Union failed hard because they never invaded their weak neighbors to become stronk. They put up almost no fight when I invaded them in 1937, and Blitzkrieg worked to perfection.

I saw Italy was strong. Did you take Moscow? I've been modding lately and not playing as much as I'd like. And thank you for the info.

I did take Moscow, and quite easily at that. All Russia had were infantry, anti aircraft guns, and fighter planes. Over all Russia was a pushover, nothing like the real deal. All I did was plow through 4 cities using Panzers, bombers, and paratroopers.

Ok, I may have to try to make the Soviets tougher. For one thing they need to build some tanks. I could add some bunkers in and I am going to see about converting the coastal artillery to artillery fort or something. This thing is nasty and give it the ability to fire on land. Likeable to the Maginot line. It is a bad ass cement turret. Stick that around some important Soviet cities. The Soviets need to be meaner, I think I can adjust them for that purpose. Another thing. If I can get someone to code it, I'll have the Siberian divisions show up on a certain turn around Moscow. To make things more difficult. ;)

Siberian Divisions sound like a great idea. I super strong infantry unit would definitely give them a needed edge. With the concrete turrets, how would that work? An improvement with a ranged attack? A unit that can't move after it is built?

Yes it is an add-on to a fort improvement. The unit is the turret and immobile.

Hi :)

What level did you play?

Hi nokmirt

Thx for a great scenario :goodjob:

A suggestion: could you add some sort of objektive/winning condition? Other than the basic one.
It's such an enormous map, and its a little to big a task to conquer whashington when you are germies or sovjets.

Thx again

Thank you very much. Victory conditions may be able to be done with Lua. I'm looking into it. BTW was Italy tough in your game as well?

Yes, and capturing Washington is a huge undertaking. I was thinking more along the lines of Germany capturing Paris, Warsaw, London, and Moscow. Or even 3 of the major capitals could win a victory. For Russia they would have to capture Warsaw, Berlin, and Rome. Something like that.

This scenario has been updated to V. 15.

hi

Can I know difference from WW 2 and Italy Germany maps?

ItalyGermany map makes it so it is a bit harder to get things going playing as those civs. In them I made the Soviets have more infrastructure and also gave them a good production city called Urals. Things should be a bit more challenging.

The WW2 map makes Germany have more infrastructure and production, to make them more challenging. At least hopefully.
