Xeo's Pitboss Server

When will the pitboss server run as dedicated IP? - I think a bit of connectivity testing would be a good idea before we start the accelerated start session.

I'll fire up the DirectIP game today around 18:00 GMT+1, that means that everyone will have 24 hours to claim their civilization. I'll send details by email and will post here on the board as well. Please note that you'll have to register at www.civstats.com (check the first post for info) to recieve turn notifications. Civstats also allows you to send diplomatic messages to other players in a better way then CIV itself, so I advise everyone to register.

Have you decided on any house rules? Tech trading on or off? 'Double turns' - part of the game or to be frowned upon?

OK, server is up and running people! Everyone should have recieved a PM from me by now, so you can log in. Please claim your civs as soon as possible. I will then send you your password for civstats, so you can register for the game.

Done. The British Empire seems to have a very lowly status and we are NOT amused. :D

Done too. CivGeek, I chose Chinese, and judging by your icon, I thought we would be neighbour, but ah well, I didn't know you have a sweet spot for the English too. Anyway, maybe when I succeed to push my border all the way through Europe, we could be neighbour then :goodjob:

Aaahhmm .... [cough, cough] well, that little matter of our picture has been corrected. We, of course, would be delighted to meet with you to discuss the proper division of Europe. Perhaps in Moscow? :D

I like your tongue-in-cheek style a great deal CivGeek, siigghhh, it will be a while before we could talk like this in game eh ? Moscow ?? I was thinking more like Paris or worst, Rome

In a sense, I'm glad not having to face you too early, choosing English, you must be tough !

While you're contemplating how you will launch thermonuclear missiles on everyone in around 6000 years :), don't forget that the mighty American nation led by a Washington who religiously drinks beer might also want his share from the world map :). Divided the world is... crap, talking like yoda I am.

I'm in. Picked Mensa Monty (or whatever) - he seems to like his crown, I can relate to that.

May I suggest that the house rule "No double turns" is appended with "when it counts/at war" - otherwise the last player to take his/her turn, must always be the last - right? In another pitboss game I play in, I find it to work well - the "last" player, can take two successive he isn't at war, or isn't like, racing another player to settle a sweet spot.

Oh - I just find out that Mensa was a reserved (yet unclaimed) leader... Sorry 'bout that. Already took my turn, so I guess theres no other way, than to reload the 4000bc pitboss savegame to fix this...

Reloading the correct savegame would be a bit problematic though because some people already took their turns. Lets wait and see if TELawrence manages to claim Mali, and if he can live with the fact that you already took a turn for him :). I think it shouldn't be that much of a problem (wouldn't be for me).

Netbjarne, regarding the double turns, your idea sounds good and if it already works in a game, we'll introduce it here as well. So the last player to play his turn can immediately play the next turn, given he is not at war with anyone.

I'm sorry but I can't attend tonight at 19:00 because of an important business meeting. Since I promised the date tonight, I wanted to ask if it would be ok with you if we postponed the accelerated start to tomorrow (same time)?

I'm fine delaying a day.

Since the event takes place at 1 pm my time, I had to make special arrangement at work to be able to participate. It's very hard for me to re-schedule now.

Would it be possible to delay 2 days instead (for Friday) ? It would help me a great deal :D
