Now in Black and White!!
Ok, The Xmas period is very much over when you start completing the games you got from Santa so if you're the same as me, post your reviews of the games you've now relegated to the 'played and finished' pile.
The game I've just finished is Assassins Creed. When I say completed I say I've completed the game, I ain't gonna roam about getting 400 odd flags.
Overall a brilliant game, the engine was brilliant and the camera only annoyed me twice during combat, which for that type of game is pretty good. Story is interesting and odd enough to keep me occupied and the ending was left wide open enough for there to be an Assassin Creed 8.
The ability to roam about the entire map, going over buildings etc etc is alot of fun and is very similar to the enjoyment given by Crackdown once you've maxed out your stats. However in regards to the environment, I've got a few grumbles. Firstly, the character can't swin. I'm sorry but gone are the days of GTA3. The main character can swing from buildings, I refuse to believe he'd drown in the bath. Secondly, between the cities you play in you get to roam about the countryside (named the Kingdom) which is interesting and all but at no point is the lead character able to climg what can only be described as a gradual rocky slope, seems odd and limiting for a game where you can climb buildings with all but the smallest of footholds.
The fighting is a but duff personally. It's a button mash of x x x x x x x broken up by the odd pressing down of x for that stronger strike. As the game progresses you get the option to learn new skills, like counter attacks and dodges but in the end you're just mashing the x button.
The paranoid guards somewhat annoy me too. Just too jumpy and I felt it somewhat odd that Assassins, being in the art of stealth killing and all, don't have the ability to dress up in something to make themself less obvious. You're a guy walking through a city with a bundle of knives and 2 swords, I do kinda understand why all the guards are paranoid. A change of clothes similar to Hitman might have been useful, or at least maybe a large overcoat or something to hid the fact that you're a guy walking through a city with a bundle...
Think that's it, overall a brilliant game, glad I bought it. No MP though so replayability is a bit off as soon as you've got all the flags and killed all the Templars but I'm not going to hold that against it. I highly recommend it to all PS3 and Xbox 360 fans
So what games has everyone else completed. Would you recommend them?
