I also have a USB sound setup. My motherboard has audio but it was disabled. In order to get the game to load past the XML init screen I enabled my audio on the motherboard (changed it in the BIOS) and then installed drivers for my motherboard audio. The game loads for me now and it still uses my USB speakers for sound. Go figure. WHen I load the game it says the motherboard audio is being used for a voice recording device and the USB speakers the sound. Looks like this games needs to detect a sound card or it won't get past this screen. Good luck....
