After installation, when "Launch" icon appears on desktop, I re-insert disc 1 as instructed. After the little bar fills halfway with blue, I get a thousand 'xml' error messages. Essentially, it's these two over and over:
Failed Loading XML file xml/text/civ4gametextinfos.xml
.[./FXml.cpp: 133] Error parsing XML File
File: xml/text/civ4gametextinfos.xml
Reason: Switch from current encoding to specified encoding not supported.
Line: 1,44
Source: <?xml version + "1.0" encoding+ "ISO-8859-1"?>
I click 'OK' on this one and it's followed by one like this:
Load XML call failed for xml/text/civ4gametextinfos.xml
Current XML file is: xml/GlobalDefinesAlt.xml
I click through about 30 of these, essentially the same 2 over and over, then the game will finally start. I can play, somewhat, but all unit names, everything on the main menus, every script everywhere is spelled out like so: TXT_KEY_CIV_AMERICA. Some of these names are so long that they run off the screen and I can't see the end of them to tell what they really are, some bleed on top of each other becoming totally illegible. Anybody out there know how to fix this? I will name my firstborn child after you.
