When starting BTS, it will give errors saying XML couldn't be parsed. There are a long string of these dialog boxes. If you click OK through them all, the game is full of undefined text strings for names of things in the game.
I have a non-English version (Japanese) of Vista 64.
This problem did not happen with Civ IV or Warlords.
It did happen with mods like Fall from Heaven 2.
If you change the International Settings (dates, decimals, etc.) in Windows each time before starting the game to US English, there are no errors.
By laborously deleting the thousands of French and German translations from all the XML files, the game will start without these errors.
The XML parser is giving an error each time a special character (umlauts, accents, etc.) appears before the </ of an XML tag. Delete these instances (there are thousands) and the errors stop.
Could the XML parser in the game be updated to use the correct character codes when parsing files so as not to give these errors in non-US English Windows?
