hey folks

i've got a problem. when i came to the year 1688 and press enter to end turn, my game is freezing. the mouse pointer is standing something that turns like every "end turn" screen. but this time i cannot reply. my game freezes.

i try different ways to get over with it but i cannot. i changed my cities queues, armies positions. but it didn't change. i tried like 10 times. every try finished with restarting my comp.

what can i do? HELP PLEASE!

thanks. gg

It could be a corrupted save file...did you consider rolling back to a previous save and reapproaching the year again? Or am I not understanding your problem? Are you saying that each and every game that reaches the year 1688 crashes and you have played several such games?
PS, I've re-set auto saves to "each turn" and am darned glad I did...

no. only one game i can reach the 1688 and its acting like that as i said earlier.

like you said i tried to continue from the past auto-saves between 1672-1686 but the result was the same. the game didnt respond after 1688.

:'(

don't play and wait for them to patch the game to fix their beta product..maybe after this patch we can go to the pre-release version with only minor bugs :) anyway, I love to be a beta tester, i hate though that they ask me my money for beeing a beta tester and not telling me i would be a beta tester

if it is one little thing (like something that only gets accessed at that turn?) it sounds like there is an error with some file. Try running chkdsk and reinstall.

well, I face the same prob, but in the year 1485 :) I can do what I want. When I end the turn in 1485, the game freezes and I have to reboot:mad:

I have seen this type of problem on an earlier game. I figured out that the game consumed more and more memory as more units and cities were created. It crashed when a certain amount of memory was consumed by these items. I was basicly restricted to smaller maps until I upgraded my RAM. Some of my symptoms at the time indicated a driver or its data was swapped out at the time it was needed.

Your problem may be related. I suggest that you make sure all of your drivers are up to date if you haven't already. I didn't see any system stats. Upgrading your memory or using a smaller map may help as well.

Well, my drivers actually are up to date and 2 gig of ram should be enough, I think, but maybe it is not enough for the huge map

I heard many times that rivals are declaring war at the same year, no matter their attitude or your supremacy. This can be just relations (F4) screen popping out. Try entering it manually before pressing 'next turn'.

If it freezes upon pressing F4, set your swap file to a fixed size like 1536 or 2048 mbytes on a single drive.
