I recently purchased CIV 3 and I love it! I played through once and did okay.

I recently started again and am way ahead of the other civs. I have a question about a yellow sun that has appeared on the box in the lower right hand corner of the screen. It is next to the button to end my turn and doesnt seem to do anything. What does this mean? I have never played Civ 1 or 2 so this is all new to me.

thanks for your help!

Chris85 is correct, and it does get progressively more yellow, then orange, and then red. As the sun's intensity increases, you will start seeing tile changes within your empire accompanied by little announcements: "Global warming has turned grasslands into plains!" and "Global warming has turned forest into tundra!" etc. Reducing the pollution being generated in the world reduces the "darkening" of the sun, and the effects of global warming.

Welcome to the forums :).

Whoa! You mean, it actually turns red. the brightest I've seen it is Light Orange. I got to try this out.

Play into the late modern age (even after the game is over if necessary) - or play a modded game where you strat with a nuclear weapons. Lob a bunch of nukes around the world. The sun will become red very quickly (and you'll get dizzy watching your map screen zoom to 50 different tiles saying "Global warming has . . . ") :)

ahhhh, another typical newbie question. I think you should put this in the FAQ Killer Mwa hahahahaha

:D

Sometime you may think its your fault , but if manage corectly( clean pollution in 1 turn, and not having more than 3-4 pollution skull per city) then its a.i fault most of the time( i would say always in my case).

A.i. built hospital as soon as they can and increase their city size up to the sky( size 20 and more, i saw size 32) without mass transit. It creat tremendous amount of pollution, much more than a factory+power plant.

I always manage to get no more than 2 pollution skull per city, so i dont built hospital right away, i built factory and hover dam which increase a lot production thus income if translate to wealth.

A few airport ( 4) and that s it until mass transit and recycling center. After that you can built anything, like nuclear plant, offshore platform, manufacturing plant, research center, airport, population up to your wish, whithout pollution problem, and without global warming.

But take care of those not able to clean their own sh.t a.i., declare war and raze their polluting city if global warming occur.:ar15: :nuke:

Why bother? So what if the world's a desert. Your empire is productive and you are leaving for Alpha Centauri anyways. Let the losers clean up the mess.

I've never seen the sun turn red, and my tiles STILL change. :) The only time I've seen it turn red is when you use a lot of nukes.
