Hello all,
Some of you may recall that I updated TAM several months ago. I've been dabbling with my own epic mod since then, which I've tentatively named YAM (Yet Another Mod) though I'm considering Flavors of Civilization.

DOWNLOAD HERE: http://www.fileplanet.com/files/190000/194555.shtml

2008.11.24: Please install Hotfix 4 (attached to this post) to address issues with

- Roman Heavy Spearman graphics
- Roman Heavy Archer graphics
- Mesoamerican Cavalry graphics
- Siam King unit graphics
- Statue of Zeus unit production
- Knights Templar unit production
- Post-ancient age Iberian Warrior graphics
- Post-ancient age Iberian Spearman graphics
- Post-ancient age Iberian Javelineer graphics
- Post-ancient age Legionary graphics
- Post-ancient age Mediterranean Javelineer graphics
- Missing Civilopedia unit art credits
- Asian Crossbowman bombard
- Ayutthaya Archer bombard
- Improved Berserk defense

The goal here is to add better balance and realism to the game while enriching the feel through flavor units. I've added a whole quite a few, thanks in no small part to Sandris. A full list of changes is available in the next post, but for a quick overview...

What's New:
  • 122 flavor units! (see attached image)
    • Celtic unit line
    • Germanic unit line
    • Spanish/Iberian unit line
    • Roman/Mediterranean unit line
    • Carthaginian unit line
    • Russian/Slavic unit line
    • Middle Eastern/Egyptian unit line
    • African unit line
    • South Asian unit line
    • Asian unit line
    • Mongol unit line
    • Sioux unit line
    • Mesoamerican unit line
    • and many more!
  • 6 new civilizations
    • Sioux (replaces Iroqouis)
    • Canada (replaces Celts)
    • Brazil (replaces Portugal)
    • Australia (replaces Byzantines)
    • Siam (replaces Sumeria)
    • Mali (replaces Hittites)
  • New French and Spanish Leaderheads
  • Fusilier and Grenadier units
  • Constitutional Monarchy government

Primary Gameplay Modifications:
  • Overhaul of governments
    • Democracy improved!
    • Republic downgraded
    • Feudalism has communal corruption
    • No forced resettlement with Fascism
  • Doubled Roads and Railroad turns to complete
  • Doubled ship movement rates
  • Galleys and Curraghs slowed in ocean
  • Revised civilization traits
  • Unique Units tweaked
  • Settlers and Workers do not require support
  • Settlers cost 3 population
  • City growth caps at 5/10 instead of 6/12
  • Ancient Cavalry open to all with Monarchy
  • Bombers require Advanced Flight and do not have land lethal bombard
  • Modern Age units rebalanced

Rather than post directly into Completed Modpacks, I thought it wise to have people test it out. I've played through three games but certainly can't catch everything.

Things I'm interested in learning:
  • Any bad graphics links that create a game crash
  • Any errors in unit upgrade paths
  • Any errors in the Civilopedia
  • Any game balance issues
  • Issues I didn't even think of
  • Any suggestions for improvement

Thank you guys in advance!

  • Find a better Australian UU (any suggestions?)

Rather than post directly into Completed Modpacks, I thought it wise to have people test it out. I've played through three games but certainly can't catch everything.

Always appreciated, I suspect many mods of never having been played through by their creator even one time at the time of release.

Yea, I wouldn't feel right publishing a mod having not rigorously tested it, much less never played it! I've gotten more careful since TAM, but there's always bound to be something wrong with it.

When making the lineup screenshot, I realized that could double as a check on unit animation links. And of course, I found three errors my testing failed to detect. Live and learn!

Thanks Moosezilla! A couple of my string replaces caused issues with king units. I never play regicide and must have missed that glitch. Hotfix 2 has been attached to the first post in the thread. It should do the trick. I started a Regicide game with 31 civs and experienced no issues.

Note that the new civs lack a true king unit. I'll add that to the might do list.

Darn it all... I removed the Stealth Fighter yesterday. Wonders are linked to an index number in the unit roll, which means it gets shifted when you change the indexing. I had this happen to me earlier in development (I got Flak Cannons), and forgot about this glitch.

I've fixed it for both The Statue of Zeus and the Knights Templar. You can grab the new biq in hotfix 3 in the first post. Note that you will not be able to fix this with you current game and will have to start a new one. I'm sorry about that.

Hotfix 4 is out. It addresses the following issues:
- Post-ancient age Iberian Warrior graphics
- Post-ancient age Iberian Spearman graphics
- Post-ancient age Iberian Javelineer graphics
- Post-ancient age Legionary graphics
- Post-ancient age Mediterranean Javelineer graphics
- Missing Civilopedia unit art credits
- Asian Crossbowman bombard
- Ayutthaya Archer bombard
- Improved Berserk defense
