I wanna count the number of people with problem and what kind so a can call 2K,Firamax to tell how many people unhappy!!!!!!Leave a quick post like this!

Time:Old Civ2 and 3 Fan
Problem:Invisible Leader and Black terrain
Humor:mad: : Really Unhappy "Civ4"

Unfortunately, this just reminds me of the debacle of Outpost (if any of you remember that far back). I love Civ games...I love THIS game...I just can't finish a game. So, I'm just waiting for a new patch that will fix the crashes. Until then, it's back to EQ II.

Spyder
You getting late game crashes , slow game play, slow turn times, increased CTDs in late game (typicaly after around 1600/1700s ??

Zy

I'm happy now, but agree that we shouldn't have to spend days tweaking our machines to make the darn thing work right.

Yep....actually, I got CTD's and other problems sporadically all through the game, but, toward the end I get them every 3 turns or so...I just can't play a game where I have to reboot my computer every few mins. I know this question is coming next, so:

Civ V1.09
Athlon XP 3000+
1gb memory
FX5200 w/256 mem (latest driver and rolled back to suggested driver)
Absolutely nothing running in memory except required processes and the game; plenty of virtual mem.

Try here - you indicated you could not finish a game, that indicates the known memory issue in Civ IV - not a-fix-it-all, and may not work for you. Pointless trying other stuff as you indicate you are playing other games and dont want to risk destabilising for other games.

This patch has been vvv successful at its target (slow game, late game, CTDs), its benign, easy install / deinstall and does not touch game code. Mega endorsemnts in the thread, currently at 107,000 hits

Post 1 has instructions

No guarantees, keep expectations level - but its worked for a v large number of people

Sigh....didn't help me. Two turns and the game crashed...error reporting dialogue came up, sent the error report and then went and opened a beer....sigh.

By the way, thank you for suggesting the fix....I had read about "Hark's Patch" but had no idea what or where it was.

Thats a shame ..... Firaxis have acknowledged its the key issue and itlooks like they are not too far from releasing an Official patch, so ... chin up ...

Enjoy the beer :)

Tryed to settle a city and it just quits the game, doesnt give me an error messege or anything just goes back to desktop.

Time: I am a civ3 and 4 player.
Problem: When i build a wonder, the little video of the wonder being built freezes up my computer.
Mood: Happy with civ4, but a little discouraged.

Time: old civ2 and 3 player (PTW and Conquest too)

Problem: Pls insert the correct DVD and try again (with the legally owned DVD of course...)

Humor: sad, it's a shame I have to use sd4hide.exe to use my legally payed copy. Otherwise, except for this problem, the game works fine. Firaxis sucks, their technical support page doesn't work either.

Blue screen crash every 5-10 turns...you guys who just crash to desktop are lucky.

Can't get game to work at all anymore, get a hard freeze within two turns everytime. Fresh new install with patch. Have kinda given up on it til a new patch comes.

Fresh install of everything from bios to game/patch. Updated drivers.
I get a freeze after awhile (time varies), and then i have to reboot by turning the pc off from the back.

When i reboot and come back on my wireless router drivers are unasigned and registery is screwed up. I have to reinstall wireless adapter, drivers, and to a system restore to get evferything working again.

Im not sure where the problem lies, and how does a pc game effect my wireless hookup? Im getting so mad. Its not a huge deal just time consuming.

And if im having this problem in single player, i will never be able to play MP and thats the reason i bought this game :( To bad they removed civ2 from the zone.

Time:Longtime Civ 3 player
Problem: After the patch (1.52), the game began to run incredibly slow. My computer should be able to run two games at once, if I wanted to, and it limps through one game now.
Humor : I like Civ 4, I am getting used to the new style of fighting. I'm ready to uninstall the patch.

Civ II, Civ III and Pirates.

Three weeks to finally get a non-form letter e-mail that suggested it might be a defective disc but try these 4 steps when isntalling just to make sure - last time I tried to install, game corrupted by DVD drive - had to uninstall and install. I refuse to risk messing up my computer to play a game.

I am now going to wait until Patch 2.0 comes out then take my game back to get a new one. I showed the store I bought this game the number of e-mails and letters it took to get a specific response so they have been very understanding and extended their exchange program for some time to come. Now if they had given me a refund, I would have bought the game the same time next year when ALL of the bugs have been found, fixed and you could simply put in the disc and it would work.

This game reminds me of the bad old days when I got so mad at software companies that I vowed NEVER to buy a game unless it was on the market for at least SIX months. Thank you Firaxis for reminding me that paranoia is only good thinking when someone is out to get you.:crazyeye:

Huh! Who would have thought having a GeForce 7800GTX 256mb card and
2Gigs of Ram, Athlon64 4000+ CPU, would get error messages about video card running out of memory!? (Patch 1.52) Had to turn all settings down to low and antialiasing off before managing a flawless 5 hour stint (didn't notice any loss of quality). But now its just happened again. I get a runtime error as well advising me to turn down the settings or something like that. Can't go much lower than the lowest settings!

Civ, Civ II, Civ III player

Problem : Game crashes to desktop randomly.
My machine exceeds minimum requirements. Everything is up to date. Have downloaded and installed patch 1.52, but I have not yet tested it.
