Thanks for all the welcomes back.. though I haven't really been gone, just lurking quietly

Anything coming up for those of us who are curious?

To keep this on topic, one interesting point about genders. Of the approx 8,000 who applied to beta test Conquests about 3% were female. Yet of the 86 people (from 300 + chosen) who contributed so much that they were thanked in the credits, 16 were female, about 20%. So maybe there are less female players but it seems that those who do play are probably more fanatical than your average male player

Of the girls who are here I would imagine that they would have to be more fanatical in order to join such a male-dominated community.

86 of the 300+... (to be perfectly honest) that's a sad figure. You'd think that of all people who wanted to contribute to something like that that the people chosen would be willing to help out more.

Civ 3 is a man's game, not that girls are good at it. Guys seem to like it since we are all power hungry. Girls just play because they all wanted to be John of Ark.

Female. I've been civving since Civ I. What I'd really like to see is an update to Alpha Centauri, though. Guess it'll never happen.

Male. I have been playing the Civ games for years too. I still play Alpha Centauri. I too would like to see an update to that great fun time game. The only patch I got recently was to make smac compataple with Windows XP.
