Just randomly stumbled across this rather interesting scifi 4X turn based strategy 'Civ like' game on the way due to for release in 2024 called ZEPHON. It's being created by Proxy Studios who made the popular 'Civ like' Warhammer 40K: Gladius and Pandora: First Contact games and are using an updated version of their engine to make this new game. Similar to Gladius you start out on different alien planets giving it a bit of a cool Sid Meier's Alpha Centauri & Civilization Beyond Earth feel, and maybe now days a bit of a Age of Wonders Planetfall feel too. These worlds are apparently filled with "eldritch horrors and cyberpunk monstrosities" which sounds interesting lol, and there's already a playable demo out too. EDIT: Game has now been released! :)

God, these guys are still (re)making the same only game over and over again, from Conquest: Divide and Conquer' times nothing has changed safe the UI that is getting more and more atrocious with every iteration.

Well I guess if it keeps making money and being more popular each time they try they'll keep doing it haha.

Just checked out their page for anything new. No dev diaries of late but it looks like they're doing public alpha demos every few months should people wish to try them..

Their trailers make everything look rather fast and almost RTS like, so I went hunting for proper gameplay footage and sure enough those great guys at eXplorminate have done a nice new play test review series where you can see how it actually plays and sure enough it's still definitely 4X TBS and quite Civ like (ie map exploration, combat, science, diplomacy feels all very Civ like). The cities have a rather Civ 6 & 7 like district system too that you seem to 'build upwards' in and they have turrets that can open fire on nearby enemies. Exploring these alien worlds filled with so many crazy monsters looks like a lot of fun. The sound design is outstanding too. Rob reckons it's their best game yet and they've really honed their craft leaning from any deficiencies in their previous games (Warhammer & Pandora) and like it's predecessors will likely have a ton of addons coming further enriching it. I notice the early steam reviews are already looking good too.
