How in any way am I oppressive, or at least more oppressive than you, Chairman are? I rule a land where most regions are semi-autonomous mini-nations. I rule a land where each region reports to me, but each region is unique. Some have monarchs, some are democracies. Do not presume to know about the Eastern Federation. It is not your land either. We have lived in "your" land for over 20 years. By most definition's, it is the Eastern Federation's land now.

I have offered you an alliance. I will not be bullied by you to give you "your" land, sir.

It appears as though it is the same half-child half-man monster just under a new disguise China is.

Alright chaps, closing arguments, and if you can't reach an agreement let's save it for the next turn.

To the Kamchatka Republic - We offer a defensive pact and request that the borders be opened. We have a shared history, and though you showed great bravery in fighting for your independence, the government that you hated has fallen. We aim to restore our shattered relations.
To Beijing - Your aggression toward us is unfounded. Remember that it was not us who ravaged your homes, but Japan. Millions of Chinese soldiers died on your defense, and we would do it again, for Beijing is the heart of China. We beg of you to reconsider your policy toward us. We offer a defensive pact to show our good will.
To the South Philippines - Already, the Japanese puppet rebels expresses intent to continue to spread their influence throughout Asia. We offer a trade agreement to stimulate both our economies, and a defensive pact to stave off their aggression, or possible Japanese aggression. In this new age, loyal allies are difficult to find, and we will not forget ours.
To Hong Kong and Macau - We admire your bravery in defying the Japanese invaders. If it is your will to remain independent, we will support you. We offer a defensive pact and a trade agreement.
To unaligned states - We offer to be your shield against the Japanese. You cannot be protected from them by the EF. They have a history of helping the Japanese imperialists, and even now, seek to restore their relations. We offer you a defensive pact.
Kamchatka Republic: Trust is earned through deeds, not words. When you have demonstrated you can be trusted, we may consider your offer.

Beijing: This bickering between China and the Eastern Federation looks to spark war anew, a war that in all probability would repeat the suffering it has taken twenty years to overcome. We think not.

South Philippines: We welcome a trade pact, if a plausible route exists, but do not believe China is capable of defending us.

Hong Kong: We would be happy to establish trade relations, but we are unable to identify a suitable Chinese port. We must refrain from any further commitment at this time.

Macau: We find this proposal is currently unfeasible.

Unaligned States: The Eastern Federation is more aptly suited to our defence. We must respectfully decline your offer.

A recent history:
Spoiler :
Sri Lanka before the cataclysm was proudly the only country independent to the USSR in the Indian sub continent. the north-east of the country which was home to the tamil people, a minority in the country, rebled from the republic joining the USSR. following this tensions ran high with minor skirmishes an often occurence against the communists who had claimed the whole country as their own.
After the collapse of the USSR may were disappointed and angry to see the north create there own country; refusing to acknowledged it's existence and claiming it's land for it's self. recently there has been a kind of peace treaty although this is fragile and rarely enforced it's the only thing stopping the two countries from entering total war.

You can call it Kotte for short.

As the nations of the world steadily begin to gain more competent foreign policies, President Sombra de Mar has decided it is time that likewise, the former Marian Federation try to re-assert itself as a leading nation, albeit through peaceful means.

-The independence of Brcko District and Brazzaville is formally guaranteed. Obviously, these states, being almost or completely surrounded by Marian territory, cannot be allowed to fall into anybody's hands (or paws in the case of Kaetif).

-Brcko District will be given special attention due to being on the frontlines of the Abhorrent War. While Kaetif-Human relations can be tense, the Abhorrents have demonstrated they are a friend of neither group, and accordingly, the factions must be willing to put aside their differences until this threat is neutralised.

-As most states know, the bulk of the economy of the MF is contained within its island territories, a small chunk of the former Colombia, and the Congo. The Marian Federation announces its intentions to colonise the former Gabon over time, and asks other states to respect this.

-The Sombrist Administration keeps a close eye on tensions in Asia, which it has heard word of. While China has endeared the Marian Federation to itself, Sombra states irrationally following other states to war is what caused the Second Cataclysm in the first place. While he desires friendship with China, he cannot support them if they fire the first shot.

-Corollary: The EF admits its sins of the past, and its claims to territory are indeed a tricky one; many of its people now call the land their home. The EF and China should try to work out of some sort of peaceful agreement over the former Chinese lands; after all, would the United States give land back to the Native Americans after so many Americans called those lands their home too?

-Given the KNE's hostile attitude towards the Federation, but the Portuguese likewise not knowing of the Kaetif(and thus possible hostility) towards them, the Federation has not commented on the KNE-Portugal legitimacy dispute. It does of course, however, hope for a peaceful resolution to this.

-The Federation of the Savanna is likely one of the most prosperous states in the world, and so, the Sombrist regime has approached them. Given their lack of encounters with the Kaetif, Sombra made sure first contact was made with a human representative to prevent awkwardness. Said representative also carried a message that it was up to them whether they'd prefer to speak with Sombra himself or a human representative in future meetings. The Marian Federation has attempted to hammer out some basic trade agreements between the states to foster friendship; this is important as the Savanna is a bit worried about the Marians'.

-The same policy was carried out towards the Kingdom of Konchasa, seeking to normalise relations as well as introduce the concept of the Kaetif to them. Increased trade agreements, the representative reasoned, would be mutually beneficial. The raw materials of Konchasa were of interest; they would allow the Marian Federation to industrialise much quicker.

-There have been some demands for the country to try and gain the Hetmanate's outpost bordering the South American possessions. Sombra has replied he has no intent to seek the outpost unless the Hetmanate decides to give it up on their own. "These individuals have taken up a heroic service to Kaetif and humanity alike, trying to find a way to return this world to some semblance of normalcy. It would be foolish for our society to make a point to repatriate this land if it's of no scientific value to us individually or economic value to us collectively." In short, Sombra does not seek the outpost, citing that any claim the Federation has to it is ambiguous anyway!

-Venezuela has been approached, being one of the most prosperous nations in the world and also having a liberal Kaetif policy. Sombra cites them as an example of humanity and Kaetifkind living in harmony and peace together. Venezuela's energy exports would be of use to the Federation, though until the shipping lanes are fully operational, trade will be limited, due to the fact most of the Neo Incan provinces are a bloody mess.

-Central American Confederacy has been approached, primarily in the same manner as Konchasa and Savanna; a key topic was Marian use of the Panama Canal, for obvious reasons. "It is important that, while world trade is currently lacking, to lay the foundations for when it no longer is."

--A high profile trip was made to Central South America, where the Kaetif are on the brink of being discriminated against based on reports. President de Mar himself went. Sombra sought to improve relations with the dictatorship, both through trade, and trying to make it easier for Kaetif workers to migrate to the heavily-contaminated country, which would enable it to tap into its yellow zones somewhat more efficiently.

Other Bordering States:

-Cantabria Libre, being hostile to the Federation politically and to the Kaetif socially, has been put on a watchlist for obvious reasons. For now, focusing on Abhorrent assaults is a more pressing concern to the Federation, but it has commented that CL's Kaetif are "not forgotten." In particular, it seems all too common that border patrol officers "don't see" Kaetif refugees from the country.

-The Alliance of North African Independents has seen limited interaction, though the Marian Federation does seek closer relations to the Alliance. Closer ties, it feels, will help shift the ambivalence towards the Kaetif to tolerance.

In general, the Marian Federation has argued for Kaetif rights around the world, being the most prominent majority-Kaetif nation (thanks to Europe being reduced to a hellhole and the Congo being fairly evenly split).

With the start of Thorvald's IOT Aftermath, chances are this one's gonna have competition for players, especially based on how excellent it looks.

How many are interested in playing this vs. putting it on hiatus until Thorvald's game finishes?

for some reason I think you have the wrong thread:p

Did you post this in the wrong thread?

Let's close this thread so Thorvald can do the other IOT that he has running I don't know about.

In that case, I should probably pass the decision to you:
To Hong Kong and Macau - We admire your bravery in defying the Japanese invaders. If it is your will to remain independent, we will support you. We offer a defensive pact and a trade agreement.

Goa: We would be happy to protect you from the Marathi Republic. If it comes to war, Macedonian troops would protect your lands as if they were our own.

Brcko: you do know we were talking about helping you fight the Abhorents in our homelands, right?

other Microstates: we understand. May we prosper in our continued coexistence.

Hindustan: would you be interested in a defensive pact?

All I addressed + Telangena, Tamil Nadu, North Ceylon, DPRS, Greater Sudan, NATA, and Democratic Arabia: Trade rights are offered to you all.

I wish to keep my only territory thank you! However, I will sign a trade agreement with your nation in hope of gaining food imports. :p

Also: I supose trying to be an oppressive dictatorship will mean a rebellion is more likely, but what happens to a city state in a rebellion?

Sri Lanka asks if you could not look for trade rights from North Ceylon who we consider part of Sri Lanka and not a true country.
