    my short stint with Civ3

To start off some of you people think little of Zouave. or think that he's the most annoying, whining member of this forum. don't deny this. I'd often see posts with: 'Forgive me if I start to sound like Zouave...' or start quoting zouave in the hopes of getting laughs. I admit I also felt...

    I quit Civilization 3!

c'ya man. i think you've been most helpful for most newbies here. always answering Qs or pointing out the FAQ to those who don't know. i agree that sneak attacks by the AI is enough cause to hate the game. and recently i've thought of quitting Civ3 (I only started last month). personally i...

i know that smart players themselves won't settle for worker automation. it's far from perfect.;) kingjoshi, about that modmanager you made, how does that work?

    Regent TICKS ME OFF!! (long)

I'll agree with Gastric 100% on this point. I may even go to state that there are absolutely no exceptions to this very early in the game. remember that to get the most of a mined hill you'll also need to build a road to get that extra commerce. this early in the game every point of gold counts...

    Earth and starting positions

too early for that roalan. remember, the patch hasn't been up for more than a day. give it a week. maybe someone will come up with good 1.29patch suggestions to say - Marla Singer's World Map. That one's pretty accurate.

2.5 GHz? That's way too steep for me. And I think that goes for other gamers out there. I never liked the AI Governor that much. It's too inefficient in the early game and maybe more so when you reach that 2nd pop barrier of 12. When a city becomes pop 12 and can't grow anymore for some time...

    Regent TICKS ME OFF!! (long)

uhh... thanks Gastric Reflux. I knew it wasn't a bug but I did not know how to explain it either. And I made a mistake on the Civilopedia - it actually explains it already. And I quote: "In addition, any city production which produces more than two food, shields, or commerce in a despotic...

    Regent TICKS ME OFF!! (long)

Lt. 'Killer' M.: just a quick follow-up. a grassland with wheat produces 3 food in despot. i've confirmed this and it conflicts with the 2-food-only rule in despot. Even the Civilopedia preserves that rule. Weird thing is that wheat produces +2 food bonus. So why do you get 3 food and not...

i did not go as much as noting each war to find out who was fighting who (i nearly did that though). so aside from the foreign advisor (who does not show you if Civ A is angry with Civ B) use the military advisor and take note of the worker's captured and lost sliders. It's not definitive but it...

    your personal secretary!

MP won't be like watching AIs play if a secretary-tool is present because actual human CIVers do lots of things that the AI couldn't and wouldn't have thought of. If given the choice we can build more cities than the AI could ever build. If not that at least then consider that humans use...

    Make your own civ attributes!

Undead: - Cannot produce workers. All citizens who die of starvation or die due to poprushing become skeleton workers instead. Skeleton workers work twice as long as non-industrious workers. - May sacrifice 20 Skeleton workers to poprush any wonder using their bones as building blocks...

Who is your LEAST favorite Advisor?

oh i see...:) still, I say Foreign Advisor sucks! she's extremely useless (i'm not even using her at all) and that stupid advice: "We should acquire more luxury and resources." duh! I have 5 of each luxury and strategic resource and that's not enough?! And what's with that permanently long...

Who is your LEAST favorite Advisor?

How do you find out about MPP's, Alliances and ROP's then? Or are you the personification of Warmonger and don't care much for that?:) Trade advisor? Ctrl-Shift-M is enough for me. Coals even become visible through that. Cultural advisor is useful for avoiding an unintended cultural...

on the right you can select/deselect options (Treaties -> MPP, ROP, Alliances, etc... | Trade -> Embargoes, Active, Potential, etc...) just check/uncheck the corresponding boxes. EDIT: also to find out what Diplomatic Agreements one civ has with the other civs (including you) you need an...

are deals broken after civ is conquered? rep hit?

Are you sure of this Sulla? because if this is true then I can very well assume that all trades that are interrupted because a civ was destroyed will deal rep hits to whoever has any deals with or against that civ. It is quite easy to miss out on this little detail. I think I'm right then...

disabling automated workers (not a spam)

Is there a way to retain control of hundreds of Shift-Automated Workers other than selecting them one by one? damn i think the newest patch will help tremendously with this problem - Fortify all then Wake all will reduce the operation to stack-by-stack rather than unit-by-unit. But is there...

    Post short tips here!

and take the huge rep-hit associated with such wanton disregard for peace treaties? no way! You do this and you will never win that UN Victory. Also you'll find that luxury trade deals in the future will become exaggerated against you (like get 1 lux only if you give 5 lux). Alliances you have...

    Tips for Cramped Opening

well, at least my starting rush consisted of 5 warriors who were easily defeated by 2 spearmen. After that each attack consisted of 2-3 units. I sent 5 waves before I eventually gave up. makes me wonder about that early warrior gambit. doesn't seem realistic in Civ3 terms. most I did was...
