Writing AI's isn't a simple task, but why if the press releasewas better then the retail don't they just replace the retail with the one of the press release
The reason to protect is simple, garantuee once income and profit. SO i'm for the protection systems in game.
I'm an industrialist in EvE Online and I make sure my goods are protected untill the moment there sold.
On the other hand I disgust the recent developments in such systems like those...
I think they took a page from how we players do and added to the AI
With this I mean we all had a time when we wanted to deal with someone and accidentally clicked the wrong leader well this sort of the same + it could be part of the covert pact deal enticing you to or to sour your relation...
Yeah I'm seeing this to in demo as egypt where you satrt near a long river cities besides the same river don't connect which is odd.
The roads are splines Ok, but they look poor at intersections
Different starting locations for sure
Don't get the shield above cities, how the hell do you break a city now
Archers which are amongst the earliest range units do 0 damage on cities so there useless against them (more or less)
I remember the first game Firaxis brought out Sid Meier Alpha Centauri (must reinstall that game), well you had a 100 turn but anybody could tweak the demo to get access to all the techs before that.
Historically its accurate
Archers had longer range and were standing behind the front troops this allowed them to attack the enemy and weaken them.
Gunpowder units like musket-man couldn't fire the same distance and this led to the evolution of guns being front line weapons on soldiers...
Ok this was poor.
The only thing I learned was that my favourite setting 'Marathon' was in the game for the rest it was stupid.
Well maybe not entirely, we now seen some ranged attacks and know we can now manually intercept air units, although no airships :(.
A week for release and still...
I actually like this, in my games I always race to be the technological superior of my world.
By the time war comes I have tanks and most of my opponents are still in the middle-ages.
(I play custom games against AI on worlds which usually give me a continent for myself, sometimes shared with...
The thing I'm least happy about is that cities can no longer revolt to your side if culture is high enough.
That used to be 1 of my key strategies.
And what if you conquer a city with a courthouse already in it.
