    An act of sheer....

...zidanity... I think the English language needs an entirely new word to describe what Zinedine Zidane did. What he did by losing his cool, his head, his professionalism, etc. at the worst possible moment, should from henceforth be called an act of 'zidanity'. Plus it gets u some cool...

US Supreme Court: Guantanamo Bay Tribunals are.....

....illegal!! Somewhat suprised by it, though they don't actually say the USA has to shut down camp x-ray now...just that they can't be held there as 'unlawful combatants' and must get a trial.. http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/americas/5129904.stm

    Ashes: England dead and buried?

After the blizzard of football related threads, a small break for a little cricket in the two days before the quarters....the topic being the upcoming, much anticipated Ashes series. Going by their superfantastic form against the Sri Lankans (they couldn't win a home series against them!!) I...

One City Challenge (sort of)peaceful diplomatic victory

After the long, gruelling marathon nuke-fest domination victory, you might want to ease off on your nerves and play a quick game or two to enjoy the variety Civ IV has to offer. I have found that one of the most enjoyable types of games are the One City Challenge, and a very entertaining, yet...

What wonders have you seen with your own eyes?

Check all applicable...Seeing in TV/photo/movie not counted, you must have been in the physical presence of the wonder. Except in the case of the Apollo Mission; it is enough if you saw it live on TV;) ..and only wonders still standing count.. Oh and feel free to add any others in the game...

    Warrior kills....Caravel?

Yup, that's what happened, with the 1.61 patch. I was at war with Isabella, my warrior hanging around in a neutral port, when her ships try to come to port, my gallant warrior jumps at them and ....sinks them!! Is that a bug or am I missing something...? :hammer2:

    v.1.61: alt+click not working

Alt+ any key and Ctrl+ click seem to be working, but I cannot declare war on the main screen, or select all units in a stack. Anybody have a clue what could be the cause?

    OCC Cultural victory; Mission: Impossible?

Is it a bug in the game that prevents you from winning a cultural victory on a OCC or am I missing something?

    OCC piggyback ride...

I started playing OCC games only with Civ IV and found out how much they actually were... Anyway, I also discovered the power of permanent alliances in a couple of games I played with them and then tried to mix the two in an OCC game after I read a strategy article on how to win in Deity (I...

    Addictive but....

...repetitive. It is probably a terse way of describing my feelings about this wonderful game, but that is what it is. Maybe I have been spoiled by the complexity of Civilization, but I got bored after 1 week of non-stop dancing/plundering/sailing/naval battles rinse and repeat. The campaign...

    Research in Prince and higher..

I only recently moved up from Noble to Prince..won a couple of diplomatic victories, lost one space race by 1 turn and am currently trying a conquest game on pangaea normal.. However, I am under attack and way behind on tech. The latter is a common feature in ALL my prince games and I never...

Of holocaust deniers and bad cartoonists..

This is probably too late with reference to the Mohammed cartoons, but nonetheless,, instead of having to plow through hundreds of posts and threads on the topic to post my views, I want to start a fresh thread, with a slightly different approach to the same. This post is prompted by the fact...

    Your country's Civics?

I don't know if this has been the topic of a thread already, but I am curious all the same. India's in real life would be something like this. Universal Suffrage Emancipation Free Market Free Speech Free Religion Although for a very brief time(18 months of Emergency) it was...

    The 'magic' of democracy;)

Now can ANY democracy in the world claim to have both: 1. A magician 2. A downright stupid buffoon among the ranks of its elected reps??? So what kind of characters get elected in yours??

    'Diplomatic' Victory

Is it just me or the last four times I have won a diplo victory on Noble, all have been because I was too lazy to win domination? Diplomatic victory in Civ III was a LOT tougher as there was always the chance that some small, insignificant, yet loved AI civ would win all the votes, unless...

    Democracy goes on a holiday;)

Now don't get me wrong, I am a very very staunch believer in the humour value of a well-organized democracy and would never, ever give it up for a dictatorship even if the Information Minister is Comical Ali;), but this is quite hilarious indeed... What is funnier is that all of this is...

    Unusual XP installation problem....

Here's the story I bought Civ IV a couple of weeks back, installed it on my comp at home, which obviously did not have enough memory to show me leader heads or the terrain. SO I installed it and played it on my Dad's brand new Toshiba laptop, where it played like a dream and so I really did...
