Gr8 Team B The Pheonix Rising

Damn, lost my turnlog. Was writing it here, posted a pic in the wrong spot, hit "Backspace" to get rid of it and I went back to this thread, and lost it  . Still have pics though.

Basically so far I've played two turns, had some cities captured then recaptured, seen infantry, was declared war on by France. Also, every city will riot next turn due to war wariness, and we can get our silks back from England. We need to end war ASAP, but Greeks won't talk.

Sorry for the delay, here's the rest. Don't have a lot of times, so will only have pics, no turnlog :( .

These turns were exhausting. Every turn I'd lose a city, then take it back, and just barely have the defenses to keep Greece under control (one mistake could cost us every thing, if they got control of a certain city then could take another imediatly, then another, so on), then they'd take another city, I'd barely get it back, and they still won't talk. I did get ToE, and Hoovers is due in ten. Played six turns.

I also lost an army and got another.

Kids, this is an AI dogpile. AI dogpiles suck.

Here's our dire situation...

Here's another dire situation, I think it's time we gave that peninsula up and retreat to the choke. An army won't hold, they'd attack it, and rifles wouldn't hold either. We just need infantry, which will come when we make peace, but then we won't need them anymore :crazyeye: .

Certainly doesn't look like the best of situations, but I think we'll be able to hold out until we can get peace. Then again I haven't been able to look at it, so I may be a bit too optimistic.

This looks tough. Odd that Greece will not talk, it's been almost 20 turns now. Why are we losing so much money?

Maybe I should have posted the save  . Will get it soon.

zyxy- Lack of lux and WW made lux tax go way up.

What a nice dogpile, keeping your late game interesting! :D
As a retrospect, if you buy in every one against Greece in the first place, you won't get such a fun ...

Own, are you running 10% science, 90% lux, and losing 89 gpt?! Looks so much fun! Seriously, how about revolt now?

That looks like a really tough situation.

It may be too late but one thing you might consider is drafting some conscripts. If one can get enough defense in the cities that can be reached in one turn - the AI may ignore them to go for the inner cities with no defense - even if they can attack and win the individual battles.

Preturn- This looks nasty. Fisrt off I drop lux by 10% and hire a few specialists, our economy is only losing 23gpt. Playing around with specialists a bit more drops that to -16gpt. I make peace with Babylon, giving them Atomic Theory for 37gpt and 19g. I know we got ripped off, but I'm concerned with our survival, and I haven't been left in a situation with much better choices. I also trade AT to China for Communism, Fascism and two luxes. The two luxes are critical. I easily drop lux to 60%, getting us up to +149 gpt.

I draft rifles extensively. Hopefully it will hold. W ehave cavs healing in towns without barracks? I suppose maybe they were being used as defenders. I move them to places with barracks, as we can't have them out of commission for so many turns.

Fortune Favor the Foolish :smoke:

IT- Very ugly. We lose three cities to Greece, one to England.

T1 1220

China gets Electronics for Replaceable parts. We need infatry and arty. We also get over 1000g for upgrades. I give Coba to Babylon as its going to be overrun. I try to reinforce things, but this mught not be pretty. If things go badly Greece can run all the way through our core.

IT- Greeks break through Nuremburg, capturing half our cannons. We hold up elsewhere.

T2 1230

I nearly kill a cav army busting through infantry to get our cannons back. They are promtly upgraded to artillery. I kill as many Greeks as I can, taking out the highest threats first.

IT- Greece razes two of our southwestern cities.

T3 1240

Thank god, Greece will talk. Therefore, I go on an all out offensive to recover what we can. We get back Nuremburg and Franfurt, but we lose a cav army in the process. We gain a leader and a new army as well, so the cost isn't quite as bad. Time for peace. We have to pay 165g and 32gpt. Geez, this seems almost like what happened to Germany at the end of WWI  We'll have the last laugh in WWII though

We can drop lux to 20%. I get us building either factories or infantry all over.

IT- Nice and quiet

T4 1250

We make peace with France. We take out some frustration on England, capturing a city. I'd like to wipe the stinky buggers out.

IT- zzz

T5 1255

We slaughter more English. This is much more fun.

IT- zzz

T6 1260

We capture the English city in the north.

IT- zzz

T7 1265

We make peace with Sumeria and get Sanitation in the process.

IT- zzz

T8 1270

We capture London. We also make peace with Japan and the Aztecs.

IT- We get Hoovers.

T9 1275

We capture Nottingham.

Summary

I stopped at 9 turns so we could be at a semi-normal number of turns. We're in a much better place now. We need to continue building up our infrastructure and military while researching towards Panzers. I would love nothing more than to build a massive amount of Panzers and raze every Greek city on the face of the world. I think that should be our goal. In the meantime, have fun killing England :D

Great turn-around! Good trading decisions. I feared the game was lost....

What needs to be done now is military build-up. We need infantry and arty, research to MotT, train panzers and roll.

It took 20 turns for Greece to talk...

Hmm, looks like I missed most interesting part of the movie :D

BTW, who's up? I'm completely lost in our roster :crazyeye:

OK, I got it.

I don't think we need republic anymore and volunteer for anarchy turns.
Is it OK to switch to Monarchy, team?

SAVE

Got it, will play tomorrow.

Our empire has a different shape than the last time I saw it :).

A war on Greece would be tough fighting for little gain, in particular, no new luxes. Otoh, Sumer is about to fade and has spices. Should we try a little expedition? They do have infantry of course, but they are probably gassed (war with China).

How about revolting to communism (my favorite gov)?

I love communism very much too. But some players claim that it is not very good if empire isn't huge. So I proposed Monarchy. But yes, I think communism is better.
