History:
In 1942, after the humiliating loss in the Anglo-Iraqi war, the British Occupied Iraq for another year until the mass protests and riots for ending British occupation and monarchy that was called: "The Great Revolution" or "The Anti-British Movement in Iraq". It lasted from 1942, 29th of October till 1944, 3rd of April. At that time, it was estimated that there was over 250 deaths and 5000 injuries. Finally, the British gave up and in 1944, 4th of April mostly because Iraq was not worth to them due to the movement and riots and they needed their army against Von Fertig and, there was a simple referendum which had 2 questions: "Do you want for Iraq to become fully independent?" and "Do you want a Republic or the current government (a monarchy)?" the results came in 6th of April with 95.7% voting yes on becoming fully independent and 64.5% for a republic, creating the Republic of Iraq. The turnout was a fascinating 89.7%. In 1944, 20th of April, Kuwait Joined Iraq. The newly republic was called: 'The Republic of Mesopotamia".
After the full Independence of Mesopotamia and a new republic, a new constitution was passed by yet another referendum in 1944, 25th of April. It had freedom of speech and religion, freedom to protest peacefully, all people above 22 could vote regardless of their sex, religion, race or wealth and equality under the law regardless of sex, religion, race or wealth. It also had protection of private property, balance of power, federalism, 2 chambers, One senate which is appointed by local Parliament and approved by the Governor every 4 years and 1 for each state all at the same time and in case of a tie, the president gets a vote and another one the House which is directly elected by the people in districts by FPTP every 2 year and a separate head of state called president elected by the people ever 4 years and head of government called prime minister appointed by the Parliament and approved by the president. The first election campaign happened after the referendum and the Election Day was in 1945, 4th of January. There was 20 states.
There were 2 major parties, 3 independent in the HOR and 4 minor ones that gained seats. The Conservative Party, a far right to right conservative pro-western party, The Progressive Party, a pro-western part ranging from Social democrats to Communists and 2 nationalist party, Kurdish Independence Party (KIP) and Kuwait Nationalist Party (KNP) (only has representation in the senate) which wanted Independence and their Ideologies changed as the regions ideology changed and 2 religious ones, one for Shias (Hussein Party (HP)) and one for Sunnis (Caliphate Party (CP)) which wanted Sharia laws. The HOR had 141 seats which the majority is the Conservative party (71 conservative, 1 HP, 4 CP, 56 Progressive, 9 KIP) and in the senate, the majority is the collation between the conservative party and the 2 religious party. There are 7 Conservative states, 5 progressive, 1 KIP, 1 KUP, 3 CP, 1 HP 1 conservative governor with HP majority which sent someone from the HP party and 1 progressive governor with a KIP majority which sent a KIP.
In 1945, France abandoned Syria and left it to Mesopotamia, Changing the countries name to: "Federal Republic of Mesopotamia and Levant". 14 new states were added and 16 more seats in the HOR. The politics in Syria is really different than in Mesopotamia, with there being the birthplace of anti-western leftists and the best place for communists to grow. 2 new parties also came: The Workers Party (WP): Anti-western ranging from Socialists to Communists and the Syrian Ultra Nationalist Party (SUNP): Syrian party for Independence. Ideology changes as the regions change.
With many years of flipping between reactionaries and leftists, Syria becoming more and more left, Kuwait becoming more conservative with eventually abandoning its nationalism and Iraq being a playfield for gaining seats and votes (Kurdish: leftist nationalist. Sunni areas: Battle between CP and Conservatives. Shia Area: battle between leftists and HP with a bit conservatism.) Many new policies came and some of them got repealed. The most important ones were the prohibition which bans the use, production, import and export of Alcohol with it being passed in 1947 and being repealed in 1956 and again, in 1967 and repealed in 1974. Also, Hijab was enforced and repealed millions of times with the longest ones being from 1949-1953 and 1957-1963. Criminalization of homosexuality was from 1946-1989. State housing and the national health care starting from 1958-1992 and then again from 1996-present. State School, college and university from 1945-today. Many regulations were also passed and repealed. The conservatives become more and more anti-western while many others
The federal republic was very active in international relations and events. It once joined against Israel in the first war because they wanted to expand and the anti-western policies of the conservatives because they had the majority in the HOR, the presidents and with the vote of some anti-western leftists and neutral in the 6 days war due to the unresolved issue of whether or not should they be anti-western or not during the leftist reign. 1980, after the Iranian revolution, Iran got weaker, so with the help of superheroes and foreign nations, they attacked and occupied Khuzestan, Kermanshah and Eastern Azerbaijan. It lasted for 2 years and the federal republic ended up with Khuzestan, Kermanshah and Eastern Azerbaijan and there was a new name: The Federal Republic of Mesopotamia, Levant and Eastern Persia" which was shortened to "FRMLEP". 3 more states were added and they helped the HP. In 2001, Turkey started mascaraing Kurds and they kept denying it and said that they were all "criminals". With the help of nearly every country in the world, the federal republic waged a war against the Turks, with the war lasting for 12 days known as the 12 days war due to the help of others and the strong military. The FRMLEP got every place with a Kurd majority. FRMLEP changed it's name to the "Federal Republic of Mesopotamia, Levant, Khuzestan and Kurdistan" Also known as FRMLKK
In 1985, there was a movement calling for congressional election being STV and AV for the executive branch. This movement became strong and many people went into the streets to protest against the FPTP although it was very peaceful and there was no violence. With the pressure of the movement being high, the government issued a referendum in 1987, which 78.9% said yes. The STV helped make 2 parties reach the federal level. One is the green party: Strong in urban areas as they campaign to reduce pollution which cities have a lot. Environmentalist. The other one is the centrists union. They are centrists and propose a middle ground on everything. Would never join a coalition unless necessary. This helped many minor parties have more seats. The first minor party to become the president was the successful candidate from the green party. It reigned from 1992-2004. These times were the times that the Federal Republic got so progressive that it even went further than many other countries.
In the 2004 election, a new party called the "Ultimate Reactionary Party" (URP) which rose from a new sect from Islam called: Habibi and had a lot of support from business and the rich, gained 95.3% of the vote in the first round and gained all of the seats except 10 of them in the HOR and all the seats in the senate as the had a URP super majority in all states. The federal elections committee said that they were "rigged" but the URP denied it saying that they won fair and square. From 2004-2016, the ruled and only got stronger and rolled back every reform that was passed and changed the name of the country to the: "Islamic Republic of Arabs". They changed the government from a federal republic to a theocracy AKA a caliphate and imposed the Sharia law. They also legally discriminated against all those who have not converted to their faith. They also closed their borders to the world.
In the late 2013, poverty raged through the new Islamic republic. It refused to help people as the Habibi believed that Islam does not require the government to help people. With capitalists exploiting workers and a research saying that 56% live under the poverty line, the communists were rising. They formed underground groups in the late 2014 and said how they will make communism work this time and it won't be a total failure. They said how religion destroyed the country and it needs to be fixed. They said how Capitalists are exploiting the workers and promised to reduce poverty, get the money from the rich and spread it to the poor. In 2015, there was an estimate that the country will have another revolution know as the 'Workers Revolution". The revolution started in 5th of June in 2015 and ended in November 2016. There was a new government and it was a Proletariat Dictatorship. Many industries are nationalized and many say that the communist phase will start soon! Workers of the World, UNITE!
