Leaders formed from Barbarians

Hey - I forgot where I read the question so I'm posting this thread - The question was - can leaders be formed by fighting barbarians only? I found that this does happen. Playing as the Germans I had a leader form from a defending city when it was attacked by a massive buildup of barbarian horsemen. It was about 12 battles but it did work.

Just an fyi to whomever asked that question, wherever it was I saw it.

I've been asking myself this same question but never once got a leader from fighting babarians only. The only time I got a leader was from fighting AI Civs. Maybe your Civ has to be Militaristic or something, aren't Germans start with Militaristic bonus?

So far my "testing" showed that you can't get GLs from fighting barbs. I had a elite spearman running around the tundra and killing at least 30 barbs but got no GL.
