Kitty Hawk Aircraft Carrier

The Kitty Hawks were a conventionally-powered class of supercarriers built for the U.S. Navy in the 1960s. They had a number of modifications over the previously Forrestal carriers, including a new layout for the elevators. Capable of carrying an Air Wing of up to 90 aircraft, the Kitty Hawks could provide air superiority, airborne early warning, strike missions, anti-submarine and anti-surface warfare, electronic warfare, and search and rescue. The final carrier, John F. Kennedy, had enough modifications to be considered a separate class. By 2009 they had all been retired.

Much thanks to Wyrmshadow and Delta Strife for many of the special effects! Unit includes custom sounds and appropriate pcxs. The AttackA features a "Civinator-style" attack that can be used if you give your carriers the bombard ability in the editor to allow strikes against enemy ships or land targets. Don't forget to add 'Rotate Before Attack'.

Nimitz Aircraft Carrier

The Nimitz-class supercarriers are the largest warships ever built. Ten have been commissioned into the U.S. Navy since Nimitz entered service in 1975. Powered by two A4W nuclear reactors, their range is unlimited around the globe, needing refueling only every 20 years. They can carry an air wing of up to 90 aircraft, from the A-7 Corsair II and F-14 Tomcat to today's F/A-18E Super Hornets. They have no offensive weapons other than the aircraft, but have Sea Sparrows and CIWS for close defense, as well as a much improved radar suite over earlier classes. Nimitz is expected to eventually be replaced by the new Gerald R. Ford–class.

Thanks again to Wyrmshadow and Delta Strife for the Bryce effects! Custom sounds are included. The AttackA features a "Civinator-style" attack that can be used if you give your carriers the bombard ability in the editor to allow strikes against enemy ships or land targets.

Tarawa-class Amphibious Assault Ship

The five Tarawa-class amphibious assault ships were built during the 1970s for the U.S. Navy to serve as the centerpiece of Amphibious Ready Groups. These Landing Helicopter Assault (LHA) ships can carry a mix of CH-46, CH-53, AH-1, and UH-1 helos, as well as Marine Harriers. The ships can also carry up to 1,700 marines, and have a rear well deck for launching amphibs or an LCAC hovercraft. All but one have now been retired and replaced by the later Wasp class.

Thanks again to Wyrmshadow and Delta Strife for critical animations and Bryce help.

Modern amphibious assault ship first entering service in, whaddya know, 1989.

Modern generously on loan from Delta Strife. Additional special effects courtesy of Wyrmshadow. Includes necessary sounds.

Iwo Jima Class Amphibious Assault Ship

The Iwo Jima-class landing platform helicopter (LPH) was the first purpose-built amphibious assault ship specifically designed to carry helicopters. They were commissioned in the 1960s so the Marines wouldn't have to keep using old WW2 carriers to transport their stuff. I wasn't able to find a model anywhere in this quadrant of the galaxy so it's been frankenrendered. Best bet is to squint when looking at it. Thanks to Wyrm as usual for special effect additions.

Burevestnik ASW Patrol Ship

The Burevestnik patrol ship (NATO reporting name Krivak) was an anti-submarine frigate built originally for the Soviet Navy, and later served with the Russian, Ukrainian, and Indian (as the Talwar class) navies. They are armed with the Metel Anti-Ship Complex (SS-N-14 Silex), two twin 76 mm guns, 2 Osa SAM launchers, 2 RBU-6000 ASW rocket launchers, and 8 533 mm torpedo tubes.

O. H. Perry Class Frigate

The Perry class frigates are multi-purpose surface vessels that can perform anti-submarine duties, escort, and have air defense and surface attack capability. The unit can be used as a modern era ship for Australia, Egypt, Pakistan, Poland, Taiwan, Spain, Turkey, Thailand, and the U.S.

Subscribing so hard...

Very cool! If anything, there are two minor things you might want to pay attention to in your next units: The run animation is a little odd, and there's smoke going back into the guns after firing. But these are just minor observations. Nice to see some modern ships. :)

Toni, you managed it to do a ship, that´s wonderful! :):hatsoff:

I just realized, the Burevestnik with its fore-mounted SAM battery would make the perfect destroyer for any Red Alert mods...

That smoke effect is magnificent. For the run animation, maybe you could use this ? (7 .obj shapes of ship wakes for Bryce)

No, those don't work well. I'll fix him up with something later.

Did you get this model from gunpoint3d?

Yes, the last model I got was in Jan 2006 before my subscription ran out. Oleg makes some great models but very often.

My computer is STILL not working properly, damn you Windows7. Also, only one day off a week. Tired.

Very well done carriers with interesting animations Tony! I've long wanted a carrier with an aircraft attack and yours looks fantastic! :salute:

Did you do the sound fx yourself or Ares? I've not seen that water effect on a run animation before, I'm curious to see how it looks in-game.

P.S. Congrats on 1,000 posts!
