I plan to start a new game with the current SVN version and am wondering if these settings make sense or some are not recommended. I plan to play through until the end of the timeline and like to give some feedback on what I observe. Of course I also want to have fun with this game. I am more of the builder type who leads war only when necessary (need for ressources, no other way for expansion, sometimes strategic considerations).
What do you think?

These are my suggested settings:

Vertical Solar Map

Prince
Snail

Win by Conquest or Space Race

No Technology Trading
No Tech. Brokering
No Vassal States
No Revolutions
No Inquisitions
No Tech Diffusion
Usable Mountains
Surround and Destroy
Advanced Diplomacy
Unlimited Wonders
Barbarian Generals
No Zones of Control
Great Commanders
Advanced Economy
United Nations
Advanced Espionage
Advanced Nukes
Infinite XP
No Negative Traits
C2C Combat Mod - Fight or Flight
C2C Combat Mod - Size Matters
Minimum City Border
Assigned Specialists XP
Teleporting Hunting Awards
C2C Combat Mod - Hide and Seek
Peace Among NPCs
Animals Stay Out!
City starts with 1 Tile
Realistic Siege
Beeline Stings

Space Race is unfinished - parts are unlocked in Nanotech - Galactic eras or something like that.

Even Science victory can be unlocked somewhere in midway of last era.

I used Mastery victory on AI less smacemap.
AI has troubles with Mastery victory, as I heard it.

Use Time victory, as there you can play how you want - on Conquest game will be won as soon as you conquer AI, and it cannot go into space yet.

Don't use Minimum City Borders with 1 City Tile start. Mutually exclusive.

Question: why no tech trading or brokering? These are basically settings for Deity players and not Prince level. And if used hampers Adv. Diplomacy.

Also if going to go as far as possible in the game, Advanced Nukes is not a good option, if you wish to keep AI alive.

And Space Race is kind of open ended right now. I use it for testing over Conquest or Domination.

Prince is too low a level for you Snofru1. You should be playing at least Emperor if not Immortal.

I forgot to mention that I also want to use the Interface Modmod by Toffer90.

Good that I have started this discussion, there is a lot to learn from you, thanks for the input! I will change my victory conditions to time victory...

In fact I am not a fan of having a lot of diplomacy, this is just not fun for me. So I just don´t like it that all my enemies - err, competitors - exchange their knowledge while I focus on planing of new cities, hunting, sailing expeditions etc. A game until the end of the tech tree needs so long that I just don´t want to use a lot of time for diplomacy - and I begrudge the other nations the gain in technology.
And OK, I will use a higher level, but probably not Immortal...

I agree on the tech trading thing. I just don't like the micromanagement aspect of having to watch your enemy to see what be tech's they may or may not have unlocked through trade and just has the potential to really over destroy the players ability to deal with both large and small ai.
Also exploitable to no end.

I couldn't even imagine playing without tech trading. Such an integral part of Civ even though the AIs seem to exploit it without remose on the higher levels but still. Sometimes it can really benefit the human player too.

You DO know that you can get an overview of all other Civs and what techs they have available to trade away, or want from you, in the diplomacy screen, right?

Not a fan of tech trading either as it forces your hand to trade techs or fall behind. The game plays out at a much nicer pace without it and all nations are accountable only to themselves if they have or don't have technologies.

What about combination of Win for Losing, Beeline Stings and Tech diffusion without tech trading/brokering? How that would play?

Exactly what I've got our test game set up with, except also no handicaps for humans. We'll find out but I suspect it's going to make for a very enjoyably paced game where all civs have a pretty good shot at keeping up with any steamroll effect.

@Snofru1,
I have a Normal GS, Immortal Diff, Large C2C_World map game that is in the Modern Era now. It has the default 9 AI for a Large map. No one has been eliminated yet.

I have been DoW by 2 of the strongest AI. 1 is actual game leader in score and # of Cities, Tokugawa. The Other is Ivan the Terrible, fickle Leader of Old Russia that goes to war at the slightest whim. But I was actually drug into a war with Ivan thru Darius a trading partner and defensive pact partner.

The C2C_world map I picked archipelago land masses, start everywhere (not a fan of Old World starts). I was isolated, on a island continent that could be described as looking a lot like Australia, well past Seafaring Tech. So I had no neighbors till after Caravels.

Up until the Modern Era I had been able to keep peace. And I was keeping 1 AI, Wilhelmina, alive by feeding her tech and units. Ivan had been beating on her for ages. But my early isolation meant that I was behind in the tech race. I would trade Wilhelmina several lower level tech for a tech I did not have and supply her with some LE units. Everybody wants to trade for LE units.

So now it's Naval warfare as neither Tokugawa nor Ivan, yet, has tried to land any invasion land forces.

But each turn takes me at least a 1/2 hour to complete. Expansion cities off the main continent and on other land masses are harder to build up. Plus sometime neighbors will send in criminal units to cause internal city difficulties. Under statement here. Especially if that city was planted on a shared landmass to acquire a Critical resource like sulfur.

It's been a long time since I've had a game last into the Modern Era and Not be decided.

I think v37 players who don't use the SVN, unlike you and I, will be shocked at the changes and challenges this v38 will give them.

I was already shocked at the changes introduced in the v37 patch!
Joseph, this is torture, I cannot wait! Don't make it worse!

Great discussion here! And thank you for the insight in your game, Joseph! I will start the new game soon, unfortunately time is restricted...

You might as well get the V38 before you start, should finally arrive today.

The V38 version is the excact same as the SVN version is for the last several days.... You could have it some time ago already...

Oh no, couldn't dream of doing something like that. This glorious, constant waiting of a good treat is just too wonderful.

We did add a new/updated GEM No Preset Civs Map made/updated by Fermongu to go with SVN 9912 the Official v38 release. ;)

Thank you Fermongu! :)

EDIT: Once my Dropbox upload is done I will be starting a New Thread for v38 Updates and patches. I will include a link to v38 for D/L from my account. Will take a couple of hours to be ready.
