That pic is dope but I'm confused why this Lich is all "f yeah!" about the good guy winning.
That picture is of Tanis Half-Elven defeating the Dragon Highlord in one of the Dragonlance modules.
It's been quite awhile since I last read the Chronicles trilogy... is that Lord Soth in the background, or am I confused?
He's wearing what looks to be Solamnic armour, so yes, I'd say that is the death knight, Lord Soth.
I recall that Soth was present when Tanis killed Ariakas and I believe that Soth also wanted the Dragon Highlord dead, but I don't recall the specifics.

One of the reasons Lord Soth wanted Ariakas dead was because he was so familiar with Kitiara - and Soth is obsessed with Kitiara (who was once in a relationship with Tanis, pre-Dragons of Autumn Twilight). Soth would like nothing more than to have Kitiara spend eternity with him as his undead consort, and while she's still alive, he's extremely jealous of whatever man she's with.
At this point Soth has no reason to be jealous of Tanis, since he's moved on to a relationship with Laurana.
Or so I remember. I'm going to have to refresh my memory on this. It's been years since I last read any Dragonlance novels.

*not primarily because it's pre-emptive, but because the seventies are the single decade that one metrically can't slot into that tune: I got se'ny-one problems, but this thread ain't one.
It'd be closer to the truth to say I've got se'ny-one problems with this thread--already! and it's only 10 posts long! Or that I got se'ny one problems and this thread is all of them.
(Not working from the lore, but just the picture itself, the lich could be happy that the triumphant warrior is distracted by his supposed triumph and thus an easy victim for the lich.)

Lord Soth is whatever Margaret Weis and Tracy Hickman decide he is. The term used in the modules and novels, if memory serves, is "death knight".
