Looks like Civ 6 is done: Kevin called April "final game update"

The point of a "cultural victory" isn't literally getting them walking on your soil, it's just getting them wearing your blue jeans. Probably also involves having more blue checkmarks on Twitter.

[NFP] Portugal (March 2021) - Patch Notes Discussion

I mentioned in the other thread, but all they seemed to do w.r.t. Monopoly Tourism was adjust it from 5 * resources * other_civs_without to 3 * resources * other_civs_without. Needless to say, it still double-multiplies by the number of other civs in the game, and the mode remains unplayable...

[NFP] Monopolies and Corporations Game Mode Discussion Thread

It seems they merely lowered the bonus from 5% * resources * other civs to 3% * resources * other civs. The mode is still unplayable with a large number of civs.

    Team 2K

First, I've never met a publisher with less stringent QA standards than their studios. After all, they are the ones who have to deal with returns and the financial backlash. Second, funding: Games, like movies but worse, are objectively terrible business investments by any ordinary criteria...

    Team 2K

Firaxis is a development studio. That's a team of programs, artists, producers, internal QA engineers, and others who actually "make the game." But shipping a multimedia product is much more than purely creating it. Farmers don't just grow food, they have to store it, find a buyer, ship it...

[NFP] Was Frontier Pack a success for you?

Secret Societies I consider great content, but with two astricks. First, it bled into fantasy; I'm not anti-fantasy, and if SS and some now-toggleable Natural Wonders was the extent of the NFP's fantastic leanings, I doubt it would have been an issue to many. But I can see how it's too much...

[NFP] Was Frontier Pack a success for you?

Unusual take: I consider the NFP a success purely because it got us 12 consecutive months of patches, the sort of approach I'd prefer Firaxis take. The game is much better now than it was a year ago regardless of the NFP content, and it sounds like a huge batch of improvements is coming in...

[NFP] Monopolies and Corporations Game Mode Discussion Thread

Essentially, a Monopoly that should be providing a +50% tourism bonus will provide a +150% bonus against 3 players, a +250% bonus against 5 players, or +1000% bonus against 20 players. (Because tourism is applied to all opponents, that would be a total of +450%/1250%/20000% total generated...

[NFP] Monopolies and Corporations Game Mode Discussion Thread

Products have to take into account some fraction of the cost of the Stock Exchange, which at 330 production (for a small amount of late-game gpt) is otherwise one of the most inefficient investments in the entire game. (Seaport has it much better, of course.) Endgame Great Engineer/Scientist...

[NFP] Monopolies and Corporations Game Mode Discussion Thread

I'm confused about the nature of the current discussion. The Monopoly Tourism multiplier is obviously very broken and should be (easily!) fixed in the very next patch, top priority. (Fortunately the rest of the mode--and the other new content--seems very good!) If they don't fix it, they should...

[NFP] Monopolies and Corporations Game Mode Discussion Thread

Monopoly should probably require a Corporation, too. (The fact that everyone was confused it didn't is probably all the argument you need.) Restricting it to the later game would let the numbers remain somewhat high and worth going after, though obviously much reduced from the current status quo.

[NFP] Monopolies and Corporations Game Mode Discussion Thread

It's very simple. It shouldn't be multiplied by the number of opponents, and should only apply to those who you have current Trade Routes with (and who do not themselves have the resource). From the sound of the dev videos, it seems like what the developers themselves thought it was. It...

[NFP] Monopolies and Corporations Game Mode Discussion Thread

Some testing about Monopolies: (may be some errors) You get a Monopoly at 60% of a resource. 3/6 or 5/9 is not enough. You do not need a Corportation to have a Monopoly! Each Monopolies give you +5% * the resourse count tourism multiplier times the number of opposing civs. If you have 4 of a...

    August 2020 Developer Livestream Discussion

While the early game impact is going to be exponentially more significant, National Parks jump to mind when Amenities changes get brought up. If I make it into the late game as the Moose Man, all my cities are sitting at about +6. Used to that meant nothing, now it actually matters a tad...

    [NFP] Maya First Look

+10% to your first ~7 cities -15% to your late-game and conquered cities One of these is way more impactful in a game built entirely on exponential growth, and it's not the second.
