How many of you have Civ3 and still play Civ1?

Here's an analogy: I like computer games (on a computer). However, there is a game on the 8-bit Nintendo called Ghengis Khan. Wonderfully simplistic, though very convoluted with depth. Since there is none quite like it, though there were attempts, there is none quite like it (if that makes...

    Gold!

I can't believe that Gold is not considered a luxury resource. It is not until the modern age (late 20th century) that gold has any use for industry. Beyond that, Gold has always been a luxury. Look at the Conquistadors of South and Central America in the 1500's.

    Random Appearing Resources

I've just encountered a strange piece of info. I was told that simply by allocating population points to work the tiles inside your city radius, there is a chance each turn that your citizens will discover a new source of a known resource. What kind of chance each turn is that? I've never...

    City Improvements

The descriptions of the Civ3 City Improvements is now very short in comparison to Civ2. In reference to each City Improvement, does this mean that the Civ3 city improvements now have less functions than they did in Civ2? Civ3 example: the Barracks description says that the city produces...

    Attacking-being attacked

Let's say two identical units are adjacent to each other (opponents), but one is in Plains and the other a Mountain. If the unit in the Mountain square attacks the unit in the Plain square, does the attacking Mountain unit still retain his defense bonus of the Mountain square, or does it now...

    Building more than one Army

No. No Naval or Artillery included. I thought at first that it was required to have an artillery included or present. This is basically the "empty" army. If the army is in the city with the barracks, with maybe a bunch of riflemen, the LOAD icon doesn't come up. I went ahead and...

    Getting rid of cities

Oh my! Didn't mention that because this is my first game played on CIV3 that I am playing on the easiest level.

    Available Patches

What patches are available? What are they doing for?

    Building more than one Army

I was wondering if I am doing something wrong with building armies. I have the Roman civilization. I have any army on a different continent. This army has the maximum number of units in it. So....I obtained another Leader and used it to create another Army. However, for some reason I cannot...

    Getting rid of cities

Posting a reply here to what I've written: I may be mistaken, but as I have written, even if you have a city size of 1, with no food in the storage, a Worker cannot be built. The same applies to settlers in a size 2 city. Building a settler or worker, or anything else cannot even be rushed...

    Getting rid of cities

Yellow, I haven't read through all of the threads yet, but here's goes. It doesn't appear that once a city is built or conquered, that it can be gotten rid of. Settlers and workers are delayed until the size is 2 or 3, as appropriate. How to disband a city?

    Terra-Forming?

Terra-Forming (or lack thereof): I wonder if options like this can be added as a patch. Maybe it cannot because it would affect the base game engine, which is not changeable. The other downfall to "No Terra-Forming" is that any part of your Civ that doesn't have fresh water because of...

    Terra-Forming?

Hi, It does not appear that Terra-Forming is an option anymore in the CIV3 (versus CIV2). For me, Terra-Forming was a VERY cool option in CIV2. It appears that Sid wanted to make this a "realistic" as possible. Terra Forming IS realistic in a modern era, or even on a limited basis in...
