I would prefer that they strengthened the weaker traits rather than weakened the stronger traits. This makes the differences between the traits larger and makes the traits you get more important to your strategy.

As a certified Wuss, here my thoughts on having a Wuss setting, and other thoughts about playing Civ.
As a Wuss, if I defend myself inadequately and an opposing Civ waltzes in and just takes over my cities - well bravo to the enemy civ.

The problem ultimately is:
If each civ adequately defends itself, which they are doing now,
then 1 civ vs 1 civ attacks will pretty much be doomed to fail. Especially if the defender has some siege units and counter attack units to weaken the attacking force.
Or to put it another way...
My settings are:
Small Great Plains, Flat
Either Quick or Marathon settings
Random Leader
Number of civs - anywhere from 1 to 8 depending upon my mood.
Always a power of 2 (1, 2, 4, or 8)
Occasionally for grins and giggles I fill the board up with civs and do 16.
No city razing...
Different Game Bug:
I was just playing along and clicked I think to go into a city. I got just a black screen. Nothing I could do except turn the computer off and on. The sequence of events was:
Play game, get black screen of death.
Restart from lastest save to try and recreate it...
