    Supply/Demand not shown?

OK, now that's really weird - checked the intelligence and they don't have Trade. Can a civ lose an advance? I know they were trading previously!

    Supply/Demand not shown?

Nope, they were sending out caravans pretty regularly up to now. It's 1705 AD (I'm not into the fast-finish game). Here's the save if you want to take a look.

    Supply/Demand not shown?

Just bought all but my "pet city" last turn. Went to peek with a spy, and Athens showed a normal city screen, except nothing was there for supply/demand. Checked again after another turn, same thing. Any idea why this would happen? I've never seen it before in 20+ years of playing.

    Deforestation

gunpoint- as I'm sure you've realized, "it depends". I tend to play the lower levels, warlord or so, since I play for the relaxation factor. (deity - been there, won that, not how I want to play at this time.) At those levels, you want to maximize your shields early in the game, then, after...

    Civ2 Fanvid

Excellent video - loved the way you took the vids and melded them into a series. Great work!!

    2009 is coming

ALERT -- if we want to land our spaceship by 2020, we need to launch a spaceship by 2009...and, at least, in the USA, we aren't anyway near.. think it's time to rethink our priorities...beter get cracking... bz

    Democracy and republic

Chieflookout - I usually stay in monarchy until I've got enough happiness (temples, marketplaces, Shakespeare, Oracle, JS Bach, Women's Suffrage, etc) to add up to no riots. Of course, I'm a very conservative player - I play is for relaxation, not points. Are you optimizing Wonders such as...

    Problem with democracy.

It all kind of depends on what Wonders you've built, guys...Shakespeare is great for fleeets, and I tend to be very conservative - either Mike's Chapel and/or Women's Suffrage before switching to Democracy. bz

Prefer Civ II to Civ III

Oh yes, cheat mode can be very de-stressing. Especially after a rotten day dealing with twits at work - a little creative editing of the txt files, and poof!! - all the idiots you work with go up in smoke...marvelous...perhaps we ought to suggest it as a new marketing strategy...

    Are the place names real??

While these places did not exist, the impact of the people associatied with them on their societies was such that these are the type of structures they would have created, had they had funds, etc. To learn more about them, may I suggest you go to a good search engine, such as www.ixquick.com...

    Am I too old....?

hey, troops, does 'age and treachery will always overcome youth and enthusiasm' ring any bells? I'm pushing 50, and I find that Civ II endures so well 'cause it's never the same game twice - you can play a serious all out war or just putz around and escape from the real world for a while...

    Leonardos, or Michaelangelos

As you've all pointed out, it depends on the level and the goal - however, I really get a charge out of seeing a gazillion diplomats evolve into spies -- it's the little things in life...
