Don't know whether this is the right place for this poll but here goes anyway.
My girlfriend reckond that I'm... "too old to be playing silly computer games."
Is she right? I'm a youthful 29 by the way.

There are plenty of people who enjoy playing games, no matter what the age. I think she's just jealous.

FWIW: I wish I were still 29. It's not all that far in the rear-view mirror...but it's far enough!

Granted, I have less time for all of this now that I have a 2 year old, but she still goes to bed early!

The problem is mainly to find time to play. With 3 (and a half !) kids, neither I nor my wife have much time. But still we play...
As you see, it's not really a question of age.

I wonder if that's because the people here are long time players who've been playing for ages rather than new recruits (who probably buy civ3 instead).

A similar poll in civ3 area got a much wider range of ages (fro 10 to 80 IIRC) wonder if there are any similar age civ2 players......

It seems pretty close-minded to say games are for kids only. If you're still pressured, consider this: people who play video games have more fun than most, and are thus happier, and happier people live longer. So we'll outlive our non-gaming friends(assuming one still takes time to eat ).

hey, troops,
does 'age and treachery will always overcome youth and enthusiasm' ring any bells?
I'm pushing 50, and I find that Civ II endures so well 'cause it's never the same game twice - you can play a serious all out war or just putz around and escape from the real world for a while. One of the labs I run is a Cyber Cafe, and Civ II is definitely a cut above most of the 'shoot 'em up' games kids like.
