    Seeding: opening strategies

Well, since you can't really tell what you're going to get before you get it, I think I'd rather go with a less-risky and more generally-applicable strategy. Here goes! Sponsor: Likely Pan-African Union, and potentially Franco-Iberia or the PAC, since they have very good collateral bonuses. I...

Problem: Only Standard map size for Civ Beyond Earth?

Also, is anyone else happy that you can pack more than X Factions into a given map size? You can now have 8-player Duel-sized Funfests!

    Game balancing systems

My guess is that it is mostly trial-and-error. The problem with trying to "math" something like game balance is that you always have human bias of some sort. For example, if I were to make a Civ game, it'd end up REALLY difficult to research anything, since I value Science as the most important...

Poll: What colonists do you take with u?

That sounds nice in theory, until you realize that the Outpost that you make is likely to get taken out be aliens, and you don't have any military units to protect said Colonist. It's more practical, I think, to pick a different combination, because that seems pretty risky to me.

Poll: What colonists do you take with u?

Honestly, I picked Engineers, but I forgot how important culture would seem to be in Beyond Earth as compared to Civ V, so it's possible that Artists would also be good. Also, it would be nice if deserts did actually give you *something*.

    Pre order bonuses and Steam

No, it's not out for pre-purchase yet on Steam. You can get it on Amazon and other retailers, though, including GreenManGaming, which I think has it on sale for a short time. Check for the "25% off Beyond Earth Preorder!" thread to get the promo code, if you want.

    Actual Map Border Poll

So far, most people are saying that they either don't care, so don't change it from what the devs have, or yes, they support the Hex borders. That's essentially a 61/17 split for/against Hex borders.

    Actual Map Border Poll

Well, here's the actual thread for the Natural Map Borders poll, so you guys can actually say what you want and not some forced decision. Anyway, enjoy!

CivBE gameplay at Gamescom on Thursday and Friday!

Well, remember also that it makes sense that water tiles give "gold", which is actually energy in this game. Hydroelectric and tidal power are both effective means of gathering energy, as are deep-sea vents, among other things. So that would technically be more accurate if this were the case.

    Affinity Ideologies

See, the whole point of the Supremacy Affinity is (in my opinion) the fact that the mind is immaterial and can be transmitted, uploaded, and swapped into new bodies whenever the physical portion degrades. By pure definition, yes, all Supremacists would be immortal. However, even though their...

    Odd Earth Relic

Well, I don't think the Relic itself is supposed to be "Old" as much as the Relic represents what "Old Earth" was all about. The "Old" modifier, in this case, is referring to the Earth, not the Relic. In other words, it's a relic to old earth.

Firaxis is doing live demo of CivBE tomorrow!!!!!

Yes, I believe it said that they were frozen cryogenically or something, but still, it does technically begin in the 28th century, not the 23rd. But I concede to your point.

Bring back the natural looking borders, please!

Well, let's be honest here: How many borders can you think of that are natural? Now, after answering that, where/when were those borders made? Here's a hint: Mostly pre-1800 regions in the old world and eastern Americas. Now, compare that to this statement: Most of the borders made after...

Firaxis is doing live demo of CivBE tomorrow!!!!!

Actually, that's when the ships are launched from the Earth. The game does, indeed, start in/around the year 2700, I believe, based on several videos that they've shown.

How will Golden Ages work in CivBE?

Ah, alright. Thanks for fixing it.
