Problem: Only Standard map size for Civ Beyond Earth?

Better hope for mod support in multiplayer. Than you can have any map size the engine supports.

In the new ign video the conformed that there are different map sizes.

Indeed Will Miller says that the player is on a standard or smaller map but he doesn't says that standard (8 players) is the max map size.

It seems that there are still big map sizes like Huge

Well, size is a relative quality. It may be "massive" for the person in charge of naming the map sizes but it might not be so massive from the point of view of us players who like the sense of adventure of exploring huge maps. The fact that it's right after the "standard" makes me a little worried.
Although, I guess we just have to wait until we see the numbers how big the maps actually are before making any conclusions.

Also, is anyone else happy that you can pack more than X Factions into a given map size? You can now have 8-player Duel-sized Funfests!

In the last video from Germany, the spokesperson is asked about typical tame of one Civ:BE game. The question is answered, or rather dodged, with a list of factors that influence game time. One of them is size of a map and it's said that a game can be very long. From this I would suspect that it will be possible to play on maps bigger than standard.
