    Who do you trade with?

Right, which is what brought me here to ask...I was staring at the screen long enough to realize that hey, I might be over-thinking this. :p On the other hand, I'm trying to improve my game - so I thought maybe this could be one of those decisions that I could be handling better. Anyone...

    Who do you trade with?

Maybe this topic has been discussed before; if so link me please. :) Background info on my current game, if you care: In my current game (emperor, epic speed, standard size continents-plus map), I have Rome nearby - he's got 3 cities before turn 100 and is friendly, but he offers me a raw deal...

    Intermediate Player with Questions:

I'm currently playing on emperor, and also consider myself an intermediate player. I just want to second this point, about selling resources. The AI will be generating more money as you go up in difficulty, and you should absolutely be extracting as much of it from them as you can. Be ready...

    Obsession with the "perfect" start.

I have the same addiction. I have a set of conditions in my head, and I reroll until I get a map that meets those requirements. I've been trying to expand my horizons though...or I was until Diablo 3 came out. :p Anyway, the "keep playing" advice is the right advice. Play each map at least...

    Gods&Kings, and D3

Both eventually. I'm a fan of the Diablo series and Blizzard games generally, so I will probably get that first. I still feel a bit burned by the state of Civ V at release, so I'm not sure I'll get G&K when it first comes out. My plan is to watch the discussions here first, and see what...

    Anyone else feel... cheated?

Just to be clear: I personally don't consider the title cards to be a major issue. I think they're very poorly written, and I try to ignore them as much as possible because of that. However: they do have a degree of importance that goes beyond fluff. A good intro should kick-start your...

    Anyone else feel... cheated?

Strange logic. If I bought a magazine and the layout sucked, I would absolutely be annoyed. I'm paying for visual media, I expect it to look like someone with a clue made it. For instance, if the pictures were all positioned on the fold, so you couldn't view them flat without pulling out the...

    Anyone else feel... cheated?

Maybe I'm reading too much into Sonereal's response. It seemed like the "it's just fluff, why do you care" put-down was being trotted out again. Maybe you're right and that's not what he meant.

    Anyone else feel... cheated?

What bugs me about the bios is how little they actually say; they're so lacking in real substance they're almost vacuous. "Something or other about the local vegetation. Great wealth. Grinding poverty. Industrious people. Blah blah blah, the end." Go ahead and bash fantasy/roleplay all you...

    Starting Strategies

I haven't found the terrain bonus of the scout to be sufficiently important, at least on the standard size Continent maps I'm playing on. It's not like I'm not exploring at all - it may take a few more turns for my warrior to meet everybody, but he gets the job done. And he's much more useful...

    Starting Strategies

I think I've figured out why our perceptions have gone in opposite directions (I used to always build a scout). What game speed are you playing at, and is your first build the scout? I'm playing on Epic speed, and I'm building a Monument first. I do build a unit next (originally a scout, now...

    Starting Strategies

The higher in difficulty I go, the less I agree with this claim. As you move up the AI has more units out sooner, so you're going to get fewer ruins no matter what you build. And considering the randomness of it, is one extra ruin worth spending hammers on a unit that fights poorly and can't...

    Starting Strategies

I've recently come back to the game...liking it better this time around, so far, in spite of many remaining shortcomings. I've been pushing up in difficulty, and the farther up I go the more predictable my starts have been. Pottery -> Writing -> Animal Husbandry -> resource techs -> Iron...

Single Feature you would add to Civ5?

I voted 'other' - the same 'other' as Keejus in fact: trade routes. I miss the importance of Open Borders, and the way trade rewarded players for maintaining friendships with other civs.

Can't keep up with DLC, annoyed by it.

Spain/Inca is $7.49. Babylon is $4.99. The most I'd currently fork out for a single civ is probably about $2. Yes I can afford to pay more. But I don't think they're worth more than that. I am the purchaser, and I say they're not worth $5. :p
