Civ2 easy compared to the others..

In Civ1 there is that bug in the game that allows a knight to beat a Riflemen, a trireme to beat a transport, or a Legion to beat a musceteer. Civ2 is more consequent. The strengt of the unit decides the beat-point. Civ 3 is a little like Civ1 in that matter, but an archer can hardly beat a...

    Quick Answers / 'Newbie' Questions

I always play at continents or archipelago, with 70% water. I use large map, and choose only 3-4 opponents. No matter if I begin with building wonders, improvements or start with producing a lot of soldiers. Sooner or later I have to attack the nearest opponent, becuase he is stealing all the...

Lanzelot & Splunge the 2nd: Sometimes I think that different strategies works for different players. I have an old friend that conqueres the enemy with quite few units. When I play, even at an easy level as warlord. I have to produce a hell lot of units to even get a good resistance/defense...

    Quick Answers / 'Newbie' Questions

Spend money on the military in the beginning, Cause if you build wonders and city improvements, the enemy will get stronger at the time. I dont know if Al cheats but if you are playing careful at the beginning, theres no use because your enemy will gain power while you take it easy. Build a...

More developed version of Civ 1

Ok this was almost what I meant.. Civnet have more improved graphics and sound, but with more developed dialogues, diplomacy and more civs, it could become a killer! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sRdGrgIa9Pk

    Your "luck"-civ?

The Russians have never been a big deal to me. they expand fast and they are aggressive at the beginning, but when you've taken over their capital and a few other big cities, they stagnate in their development. Neither do I have problems with the french. I dont know if my version of civ is...

New thread. How many people still play civ3

In my opinon, Civ 3 is the best version. Not too simple and not too advanced. Plus i like the maps (the graphics). Civ 3 is the most harmonic Civ game, though it can be very hard even att the easy levels. And for some strange reason, the Aztecs and the Incas too often are on the same start-...

    Your "luck"-civ?

I guess you too have discovered that there seems to be one civ or two that you goes better with than the others. I dont know if its psychological but maybe we have personal fauvorites according to the civs we adore in history or in todays world. For me, I have almost always succeeded playing...

    that awkward moment when...

Its absolutely awkward when you discover that there is no iron on your continent. Well, lets wait til we discover gunpowder.. and OF COURSE THERE'S NO SALPETER EITHER!! So you try to find an island where there are resources, but it takes a hell lot of time to have the new cities being more...

    Universities..

Wonder much whats the point in building them. When you discover Education, the cities automatically switch to start building those, regardless of how small they are. But what I can see they doesnt have any larger effect on science. Maybe it takes one or two lesser turns to discover new techs...

    Why play Civ 1?

Civ 1 is a good game. It allows you to play world police in a way that is not so easy when it comes to the later Civ-games. I especially like when there is one civ per continent. It makes it more exciting and you can travel across the other continents just to provoke.

Sickest bugs you've experienced in Civ 1?

Its not very common, but sometimes the game start to get buggy after playing a while. Once I played i got real suprised when suddenly the other civs discovered between 1-3 knowledges at every turn! And when I spoke with another civ they sort of offered to share 6-7 knowledges! Any other...

    Worst thing about Civ...

Is when you have shipped a lot of strong units to conquer an enemy on another continent, and they are fully prepared and already have hordes of Medieval infantry, Crusaders, Knights and Longbowmen just waiting for your arrival.

    Playing "World police"

One of my great pleasures when it comes to Civ 1 is to play "World police" the american way. Starting with americans on the US continent or in a new world. Trying to hold back the other civs development with military force and then protect the weaker civilisations from the stronger ones. But...
