  • They could of course spend their own points there as well. It'd further force them to stop focusing on one area. I will consider, but I don't know at the moment. You are exempt from the rule change this one time. Spoiler: you got 3 from all the raids. Terrance has literally no points for you to take, but you rolled a 3 for me.
    Ahhhhhhhh hmmmm...

First of all, thank you very much for pointing that out. I suppose I didn't think too deeply there. Very insightful.

After careful review, I think I will lower the amount possible to be gained to 0-2. This will give a gambling aspect; 1/3 you lose, 1/3 you break even, 1/3 you win.

I will also follow your advice and require players spend it from whence it came, the attacking faction.
not stoping you from posting the origional update, just stating my dis-satisfaction with you compleatly ignoring the expressed intent of the orders. intent which was expressed to you befor I even sent the orders.
just consider myself out of the game a turn or two while you back away and calm down a bit, and I do the same. I'll join in a totaly diffrent area away from Europe, and the area can decend in chaos next turn.

note to both of us. perhaphs discussing the update while doing the update is not a wise thing.
possibly we should ask a mod to deleate posts 1000 and 1001?
What would the loyal follower of Exnot think? He has bowed his head to not be killed, and saw Triml the Second, one who he hopes to become his new king, get cut down by a dirty move. Because you spent 2EP instead of 1 on spies, and because you spent so much before, that is your influence.

I could change it... but that means that now I have to change what happens in Egypt, Western Europe, Keltia, and basically the entire update. But one player's happiness is more important than everyone elses. I will update in two weeks.
that's not the half-hearted nature. that's epic conflict.

the outcome is halfhearted bit. I stated it's all or nothing. if it didn't work out, I wanted him to be in a position to win completely. which means his emperor HAS TO LIVE.

not die a mutual death, turning into a qugmire of conflicts and ruining us both.

that's it, your not getting post 1000.
There is nothing half-hearted. He immediately ordered all his people and his troops into the cities for conversion EVEN BEFORE YOU DECLARED WAR. You guys duked it out so bad, my brain crashed because of how much people DIED, and that's after I DID THE GREY MARCH. Fanaticalism does not match what happened.

Nothing half-hearted happened. It happened because you guys put your full effort against each other, simple as that.

To put it in simple terms: he anticipated fallout, and sent orders before any declaration of war to move all people into the cities, where his loyal soldiers would be better able to ensure conversion. He has enough food to feed all of them, and he will convert all of them.

When you did your sneaky invade right behind declaration of war, IT WOULD HAVE WORKED EXCEPT HE WAS PREPARING FOR WAR EVEN BEFORE YOU DECLARED IT.
... and how did he move them there in less then a week?

    AHHRRGHH!!!
the intent of my orders, laid clearly out in them, has been compleatly ignored. as stated.
ALL OR NOTHING. I win, or I lose. no stalemate, no nothing. HIs EMPEROR MUST LIVE.

I will not accept this half-hearted nature of this conflict.
    Sigh.

You went all out to defeat him at his capital. He went all out to defend his capital. And it ended up that you won... for about half a day. Your spies did their job well, but in the end he has enough allies to turn the tide. That is what happened. That is how the ball rolls. To change it now is to ignore the hard work we all did in this region.

I am satisfied with the current result now, and after spending half a day on this, I shall finally move to update other regions.
Two people are fighting all out, and as one cut into the other's heart, the other, with his last strength, chopped off the enemy's head.

    That is what happened.
    ...
Terrance. any fleet they had in the area would have already sunk my fleet, or have been sunk by mine BEFORE any land invasions of the city took place.
even if it did happen, my entire fleet would have had to have bene sunk fist, since it was IN THEIR HARBOR durring the land invasion. so I would had no retreat.

If you dont' want to re-write the batte entierly, just have the assasin fail, and just-rewrite that part so their emperor survives.

youre makeing this more complex then this has to be. I told you in my orders this is an all or nothing bet. there is no mutual loss or stalemate. eather I win of HE wins, and whoever dose is in a position to claim it all.
this just results in a complealty ugly-situation that no one want.

    AHHRRGHHH!!!
It doesn't have to be multi-century, nor does it have to be a single war
You took over the city and killed their emperor. Your emperor and everyone who you can claim to their throne also got killd Both of you have no ruling families anymore. Neither of you have any one who can claim the throne alive, but they happen to manage to keep control so they put someone who have a dubious claim in power
Not to mention lots of people think that doesn't count-death via assassin after all
The reinforcements were from the marines on their fleet, which returned in the middle of the battle
I'm not insisting anything, that's how it turned out. I just don't have a way to make your death an epic-death. It will be an anti-climatic death, not epic at all. THIS IS WHAT HAPPENS, if your nation dies, no matter how epic it is, it will not be epic at all because it has every reason to keep going
The only other thing I can do is have BOTH of you fall apart, that's the only way we can have an "Epic Death"
Are you sure? It's more of a stalemate than anything-you managed to kill nearly their entire family, but was barely driven out by reinforcements.

As for what happened, you both got strong allies who helped a lot based on your diplomacy.

Finally, for Clan-politics... you destroyed the clans, not sure how that'll add up.

Confirming the last time- do you want an epic ending? He doesn't have the army to pursue you, we are about 10 years into the update. Any epic ending would probably be civil war of some kind, again, an actual one.
It's the dramatic point. I'm going to have to collapse the empire if I lose, might as well do so in a fashion that gives itself to a legend. ether Triml becomes a legend, or their emperor dose. determine the winner, then tweak the results in favor of that winner. as long as the results are legendary, I'm happy with the results.

still, I got a better then even chance of victory. internal supporters, surprise, and unless he completely foresaw the surprise attack (or really bad luck), the majority of his army elsewhere, and weeks away from being able to counter my attack.

call it a loss of internal cohesion should I fail. with not leader to step up, old clan-politics try to re-surface and tear everything apart. they develop into a Particularly vicious barbarian tribe that occupies the area?
Oh, and if I fail, the codex gets sealed away as a "Lost Treasure". possibly discovered as a historical artifact of great value sometime int he future.
Are you sure you want to fail in an Epic Fashion if you do? I think it would take another turn if the Atlanyin Empire is to truely fall.

Spoiler: There, the Emperor killed the young Prince, stepping over his resisting body to cut off his head. And there, he stood smiling, ready to turn the tide. And there, a secretly Exnotist supporter saw his opening, threw off the insignia of the Imperial Guards and stabbed the victorious Emperor in the back.
