I played on King and Emperor so far and in all games I finish the civics and tech tree around turn 300. Is this as designed? I don't even focus on tech too much or at least don't focus on tech only.
I find it very odd if so. On Civ 5 there were cases where even by the end of the game I didn't...
Heya
I just played a OCC game on small map (6 AI, 10 city states or so) and especially at the end of the game the performance was terrible - each AI turn was taking about 30+ seconds which is quite annoying.
My system is pretty good:
Intel i5 quad core 3.3 GHz
8GB RAM
Any ideas how to improve...
I voted "no" but with some notes:
- as they are now it is more or less fair to have no direct defense against nukes.
They are quite expensive - 920 / 1200 shields for atomic bomb / nuclear missile which is equal to:
2 / 3 mech infantries
1.5 / 2 (almost) modern armor
1.5 / 2 rocket...
No - once you have annoyed the city states there is no way back ...
BTW - I think the same applies for the major powers - once you wipe out one or two of them, the rest will consider you a warmonger no matter how much time you sit tight after this. Or at least I didn't notice the red "they...
Won one OCC game myself with following setup:
Continents / Tiny / King / France
The start location was a bit lucky for me - I was protected by a river + hills from north and west, had hills, followed by a mountain to the east and the sea to the south.
I had just one (real) neighbor - Spain...
I'm a little bit confused with the scoring system in Civ V.
In all other Civilization games there was a (almost) universal rule - the better you played, the more score you will earn. There were some exceptions for some extreme situations where there was more profitable to conquer as much land...
Ranged units don't have shock or drill promotions. Instead they have accuracy and barrage. Accuracy increases attack against units standing on open terrain and barrage - against units standing on rough terrain.
How do the Hospital and Medical Lab bonuses work?
I.e. what does it mean that 50% and 25% (in total 75%) of the food is present after the city grows.
As an example - My city was of size 23, just went to 24 and has both hospital and medical lab. However in the food stores I just have 52,5 food...
... while obviously dominating in a war?
I made some experiments:
- AI (Washington) declares war, I drop 3 nukes on his biggest cities and leave it be, because I don't want to make cross continent invasion. In like 10 turns it offers me peace and asks me for all my luxuries and resources...
What happens if all types of victory besides science and culture are disabled and you conquer all the AIs (and CS)? Will the game continue until you build Utopia/Space ship?
(guess I can find it myself but I would have to invest some time on chieftain)
And one more:
What is the difference between "You will pay for this" and "Very well" / "I'm sorry it created a wedge between us" in the AI dialogue
The first one will obviously annoy the AI (I guess less than a nuke on their capitol :) ) but will the second one remedy some of the damage caused?
Thank you all for the comments!
Well with the described army I'm not a danger to anyone - any attack with it will fail miserably if there is a defending army standing with the city attacked.
The army the AI threw at me was actually larger ... just the defense is much easier with the city...
Hi
I wonder whether someone has the same issue like me - like two games in a row where I start with the intention to be doing culture mainly I end up warmongering.
Why ... here how it goes on King difficulty:
Ok I start with France (culture baby!) and expand to 3 cities + semi descent...
