TAC 2.02d - The Authentic Colonization 2016-10-05

A team of German and Swiss modders presents you a large but well balanced and well tested modification for "Sid Meier's Civilization IV: Colonization" (Civ4Col). For the last three years we have developed this community modification of German-speaking Civforum.

The vanilla version of Civ4Col contained many failings and bugs, and it hadn't the spirit which all fans of the original Colonization had enjoyed. We have kept working hard for a general overhaul of the whole game. We have improved AI and balancing. And we have added a lot of new content like events, quests, achievements, a new and comfortable menue of transport-routes, a revised interface, specific troop-models for all nations, new maps, more civilizations, more founding fathers, more resources, cocoa plantings and whaling and learning-by-doing and much more.

WHAT'S NEW AT THIS VERSION?:
The first change to TAC 2.02b you will recognize when starting the game: We have packed the graphic data so that you will arrive at the all-new, pretentious starting screen at lightning speed. Furthermore, the general turn limit has been abolished. As your European competitors, you will have unlimited time to declare independancy. Only when any European power declares independancy, for all other participants a turn-limit will be imposed: from that moment on, you will have 200 turns to declare independancy and to defend against the following attack of your king.
Soon after starting your first game, you will notice the graphical changes. The terrain no longer appears in candy-like colours, but looks much more natural now. The city screen now has a background made from rustic planks and displays idyllic pictures of the countryside on the buildings slot which still happen to be empty. All nations have got new flags. For the natives, we have implemented a new nation: the pretty-looking High Priestess Nunkui will welcome you on behalf of the tribe of the Shuar. Natives now are settling at the latitudes at which they traditionally have settled.
You will be confronted with new random events and quests. The maybe most important changes, though, you will notice only step by step: the artificial intelligence (AI) of the European competitors now makes use of less "cheats" but more of their "brain". We have eliminated many AI-bugs and given it a much higher "intelligence quotient". In addition, not only the European but the native leaders, too, have got five hidden characteristics, determining their diplomatic and military behaviour.
An additional alteration is optionally available. You will have the chance to install an alternative interface, by which you may get a new look at the world.

INSTALLATION:
The file "INSTALL_MANUELL_TAC 2.02d_inoffiziell_english.zip" contains a zip-file. Please right-click and unpackage it. Put the folder "TAC 2.02d_inoffiziell" into the folder "mods" at the My Games path of Civ4Col.

TO START TAC:
Please start Colonization, then change to "Advanced" and "Load a Mod". Choose "TAC 2.02d_inoffiziell".

FAQ:

Does TAC override any data from the vanilla version?
No, it doesn’t. You don’t need any backup.

What if I don’t like TAC?
Just play the vanilla version. You don’t need to uninstall TAC.

Must I uninstall older versions of TAC after the release of a newer version?
No. Each TAC-version has an own name. You can delete the old versions to get more space, but that isn't necessary.

Can I play TAC together with other mods?
No, sorry. The game allows only one mod at time. This is reasonable because two mods don’t get along with each other.

Does TAC contain bugs?
We’re afraid it does. TAC is software, and software has always some bugs. But we have been developing this mod for three years, and it contains only few bugs meantime – and less bugs than vanilla version.

What about the multiplayer-mode?
You can use the PBEM-mode and Hotseat without any problems. It isn't possible to trade directly with other players, but that is an error of vanilla version. If you wish to use another MP-mode, you will have problems. We are working to fix these errors.

Can you tell me more about your new features?
At first please check the colopedia, the ingame-library. We have adapted the strategy-texts of the elements (but not of the concepts). German-speaking users can use our detailed and illustrated TAC-Wiki, which already gives you all informations that you wish. Naturally you can post your questions here at CivFanatics.

I wish to use parts of TAC in my own modification. Is that okay?
As a matter of course it is permitted to use TAC in an own mod project as long as the copyrights are not harmed. Please read our ingame credits. TAC is a non-commercial mod project. If you use or distribute TAC please pay attention to the copyright. We allow usage and distribution as long as TAC remains non-commercial. If you wish to use artwork, we could give you more informations about the creators so that you could mention them in the credits of your own modification.
