Ever since Hungary released, their Achievement (As Hungary, have Christianity as your dominant religion and defeat a unit whose Civilization's dominant religion is not Christianity) has been the second-most-impossible thing to get for my achievement-addicted self (the most impossible being An Engineer's Dream). :cringe:

After many games played as them, in which it was either impossible to get a religion at all, or none of the Christian Religions were left (achievement guides claim that either Catholicism, Protestantism or Eastern Orthodoxy will work for the Achievement), I finally thought that today, I had all the pieces together! :mischief:

As you can see from my Save, I got Eastern Orthodoxy (the other two were already gone, close!). It should be my Dominant Religion, since I only have the one city. I have been slaughtering Japanese Units for several turns now, who are definitely units of Buddhism (all the Japanese cities are Buddhist). But still, no Achievement

Over a year ago, I already had a Hungary Game once where I also thought I had all the pieces, and it didn't work then, either... at the time, I shrugged and thought I must have done something wrong, but now I'm convinced that the Achievement is simply broken, like so many other things in this game.

If I'm overlooking something completely obvious, please let me know. I admit that I still have no idea how religions/believers/dominance really work, even after over 2000 hours played.

Is it only one of the three that actually counts as Christianity for the Achievement? Do none of them, due to broken coding?(Would a Custom Religion named "Christianity" work then!?!) Do I need more than one city? Does it secretly work only for Religious Combat?

Thank you for reading.

Hi,
I haven't tried that one yet.
Did you try to look here?
I don't use those files, I want to
Maybe try to lower the difficulty so that you can get the religion you want? I'd go Catholicism for Hungary?

Hey fellow achievement hunter!

the most impossible being An Engineer's Dream
What do you think of that? :)

I first thought of a better placement, but then realized it was a volcano next to the city, so I guess no tunnel there.

Heyo :) Thanks for respondin'.

I am not currently looking for saves to easily get the achievements. Out of a weird sense of honor and/or a desire to have something to strive for in every game even after 2000 hours, I have to get every achievement in a regular fair game played from beginning to end with my standard settings :crazyeye:

Now, I googled my predicament (which should have been my first step), and from what other people have seen, the answer seems to be that the achievement description in-game (and the guide I had read) is indeed wrong! You need Catholicism, and only that will work

That's the answer, I suppose. Close to impossible to get, then. That one is always gone as the first or second religion, and gettin' one so soon is impossible. The only glimmer of hope I can see is makin' a game where I either manually choose only opponents who don't prefer Catholicism (and Congo) or, after the next patch, exclude all those who do. Stuff to think about. Anyway, at least now the bug/wrong description is reported.

Same here, I wanted to mention it for you to see the conditions in which it was won, not to use the savefile to get the achievement itself.

If you lower the difficulty, you can surely get any religion you want, but yes at 7/8 it's gonna be tough. Choosing your opponents might work! Good luck

By far the hardest part of accomplishing this cheeve for me was the unthinkable horror that was not playing my favorite, "every-single-game" religion, Gamera-ism. I'll give you one guess what graphic I pick. ;)
