1.29f IS UP!

downloaded in 1 minute 10 seconds on cable, fast host!

Yeah, I love cable too lol, it took about 50 seconds.

Just glad I upgraded in time!

héhé, thank god for ADSL

WOW, faster production option!!!! This will make the game a lot faster! 2 turns to make a warrior in the beginning in stead of 10!

To bad my editor still doesn't seem to work :aargh3:
I can use all the options in the editor but my map is still mostly PINK!!! (1/2 water & 3/4 of terrain squares are pink)

What should I do???

Well as usual, I'm diving into gameplay rather than the editor stuff, and so far its all looking good (seems a shame to have to confirm that it doesn't crash!, but you can never be sure).

First thing I've noticed (which I don't even remember seeing in the readme) is that the computer doesn't seem to automatically trade everything which itself (as it always seemed to do before).

What I mean is, it was almost always the case that if (for instance) one civ had knowledge of another civ, they would have virtually the same techs and would each have communications with the same other civs (i.e. if you traded something with them it was almost always useless for trading elsewhere). This has stopped! I can now usefully trade on techs and comms with other civs! Is it just me or had that been previously fixed anyway?

Still playing ... more feedback (on gameplay) later.

downloaded it yay! no problems.

although i don't know when I'll run the patch. I don't want any problems with my current games and i don't use the editor that much anyway (making a map is too darn tedious - no time for that). nice though! I still say..

Way to go FIRAXIANS! :goodjob:

In case you didn't read my post under the Bugs section, backup your Civ3 directory if you modded or edited any of the files. Since I modded my civ3mod.bic and edited the civlopedia.txt and pediaicons.txt, I had to restore them from my backup because the patch overwrote them, so be sure you backup anything that you have changed in the past! Besides that, the Mod seems to work a-ok, still learning the new editor of course

Sorry I'm a little late, but I just have to brag, as it took me not quite 11 seconds to download the patch (10 Mb/s fiber at home).

Now on to the more important part - losing a night's sleep to test it out!

So just how specifically do you place cities?

I'm fiddling around with Marla's world map and the option is grayed out :(.

EDIT: Problem solved. Now how to access the city dialogue thingie...

Right click on the city, then property.

It's actually a very nice editor. Strap in some way to edit save games for diplomacy (and I'm sure someone will find a way to do that sooner or later and sonner more than later) and we're set for full-scale scenario editing.

Even as things are, we have rather nice scenario editing capacity for exploring "What if" scenario - IE, what if Hitler, instead of being an evil tyran, had been replaced by a rather "foresight" guy who had realized how menacing Stalin was and started outright building alliances against him? Or what if he had decided to take on Italy instead of France, regardless of alliance?

I actually rather enjoy the notion of having more freedom (as a player) regarding diplomatic situation, and be able to rewrite history as if *I* had been in command of the situation at a specific point in time, not Hitler or whoever.

Wohoo! *downloaded w/ DSL*.

Why?

Even without diplomacy *IN SCENARIO EDITING*, the game is still massively improved from 1.21...

Damn you Ukie, you beat me to a thread like this!

It's too bad I only have a 56K modem. I'm downloading right now and it's at about 11% done.

This is gonna be sooooo cooool!!! What about that no diplomacy thing??

Diplomacy is the same as ever in the game. It's just that the editor doesn't allow you to specify who is at war.

You can't set mutual protection pacts, or unending alliances, or set two civs to be at war, etc.. in the "Scenario" editor.
