1 silly question about buffy

Hi, I had been using BUG for some time. I didn't use it's "MOD form" though, but the version that started automatically every time I started Civ. I hope you understand what I'm saying:)

Now I installed BUFFY, and in order to use it, I must start the game, then load a BUFFY mod. Is there a simplier way to do this? I don't use any other mods, so I would like something permanent that would start the BUFFY mode everytime I play Civ.

edit your Civilization4.ini and search for the word "Mods". On the line below it, where the number 0 is, put the directory where you installed BUFFY. ie - Mods\BUFFY. This will cause BTS to start with BTS. another option is to edit your desktop shortcut, and add that string to the end of .exe.

note that BUFFY and BUG (installed under CustomAssets) do not play well together. You will need to rename customassets or edit the BUFFY.ini file and change the NoCustomAssets to '1' (ie ignore).
 
It may sound silly, but wouldn't it be safer to provide Buffy with a .ini file that already ignore customassets ?

In hindsight - it would have been better to fix BUFFY (that is what we will be doing). The downside with ignoring CustomAssets is that you lose access to bluemarble too.

My own personal solution is to have 2 customasset folders (one with BM and one with BM+BUG) and use a customasset swapper to swap between the two.
 
doesn't the "ignorecustomarts" allow you to get NM but not BUG from customassets ? I don't know, I never used it, but always assumed that would do it

Sadly, NoCustomAssets takes precedence over NoCustomArt. Thus, you can get Python/XML changes but ignore BlueMarble, but you can't get BlueMarble while ignoring Python/XML changes. :cry:

What i did was drop BM into BUFFY's assets folder and have BUFFY set to not load custom assets.

That works okay as long as you don't intend to submit HOF or xOTM games.
