AFAIK, the AI is the same on any skill level, it just has better bonuses (or fewer penalties) on higher levels.

But reading this thread makes me feel much better, beause I can beat warlord :lol:.

245: You build every wonder without checking the effects. (did that my first game :D)
246: You have never seen a title higher then "The Worthless" at the end of the game.
247: You think military units (even pure defenders) do nothing at all unless you are a warmonger.
248: You build every wonder in the same city when culture victory is off.
249: You build no wonders, but also have the worst millitary.
250: You always lose your games by "the buzzer", unless you build the U.N., then you lose the vote. (my first 5 or so games :D)

251. Your Modern Armors (a.k.a. renamed warriors) can't beat archers.
252. You rename units to other unit names.
253. You upgrade all your elite units ASAP, but keep your Veteran and Elite* units un-upgraded as long as possible.
 
254: You never change governments because when you tried, your civ entered Anarchy, and you didn't know that it will end in maximum 9 turns... And because you are sure the Anarchy will last for the rest of your game!

@AlCosta: If the archer is an elite attacking a redlined tank on grasslands, not across a river, not in a city, and without other bonuses, the Archer will have a 50,609% chance of win!!! If it is not redlined, but yellow-lined, it will still win in 18,114% of the cases.

Really, these are things I would not advice to anyone, especially not to new players, but...

How about a (2/4) Veteran tank attacking a regular (3/3) archer on grassland, no hills, rivers, or mountains?
