1300-1492

This is 1300 - 1492 we're talking about. ;)
I'm referring more to the government types of Civ 3 than the period itself. By that time the republican and possibly even Democratic systems of government would be available in a normal game, so I presume Kyriakos has something along the lines of at least a Republic in his tech tree.

The Ottoman should have a presence, Osman was very much there based in Sogut and Yernisher in 1300's and by 1301 and 1302 had defeated a Byzantine army at Bapheon.

There are two ways to depict the ottomans. One would be with an event which enables them to reach Europe, IF Serbia expands against the Byzantines. The other would be to have them as part of the neutrals, and give the neutral cities in Macedonia some ottoman units later in the scenario.

Either way, they will not be a playable nation.

With some progress in civ3 we now can have (although a bit primitive) events in this game :)

But... but... the period 1300 - 1492 is pretty much the crucial period of Ottoman expansion. It wouldn't make sense not to include them as a major faction.

Or are you going for an alternate history... :mischief:

They will be, potentially, a major faction. Remember that the HRE is neutral as well, for gameplay reasons. Since the scenario starts in 1300, the ottomans are in the start a very minor civ with one landlocked town. Historically their rapid expansion begun with the expansion of Serbia under Tzar Dushan against the Byzantines, who were forced to ask for seljuk help to battle the serbs, thus carrying a turkish army for the first time in the balkans.

I might first make a smaller scale scenario with the region, so as to allow for bigger flexibility with what is going on :)

The most important of the HRE states will be represented as their own factions though; Bohemia, Brandenburg, Austria etc. However, it would be weird for a scenario covering AD 1300 - 1492 not featuring the Ottomans as a major faction. It would make an interesting challenge too, trying to build an empire starting with an OPM and exploiting the situation of the neighbouring states to your advantage. The Ottomans IMHO deserves a place more than Georgia, Brandenburg, or even Austria :mischief:

My Ottoman fanboyism shows doesn't it? :p
