I honestly wont play rhis scenario. I dont think there is any beleife that the chinese discovered america. they should have set up colonies and things in america, not let everyone from europe. sorry.
you should be sorry, because your argument miss some important factors.

you would realize it simply wasn't logical for china to trade with native american or setup colonies there considering they had have access to the same resourses near home like SE asia and india. why setup a colony so far away where shipping cost will eat into your profit? :crazyeye:

afterall, wasn't the european exploration conducted to find a route to china and india!!!

with the discovery of american, it was competition among europeans for new source of resources, that cause them to develop an expansionist policy of building colonies. something china doesn't have is competition, it has a strong monopoly on the regional economy. and it managed to continues its dominance of being the largest and riches economy in the entire world until the 19th century.

it is very likely china discovered american around that period; it did has historical record that descript america's location and size accurately! but it was really a sightseeing mission that achieved as much as the apollo mission. which neither case, they were unable to claim it as their own.

i might become an official sinophile after this thread... :scan:

There are many theories. Its not fiction, its one theory like theory about Polynesians or Egypt. Nobody is sure who realy discovered America, I have long article about it, but sadly in Czech :p .

But I may give you main theories:
1)Egyptians -395 A.D., geoographical help from Phoenicans?
2)Phoenicans - many indicators, very wealthy of stones which were not in Medit...
3)Romans-Roman coins, but with Phoenician
4)Ires-also contact with Phoenicans(yes its realy true!) , christianist journeys, Legen about monk Brandon
5)Chinese-technical ability-yes, indicators in Indonesia and America.
6)Polynesians-legends, some indicators
7)Vikings-after Ires? Geographical maps from ransacking in Irish temples?-it is sure, but in time after all. :)

Never heard about the Egyptian theroy but i had heard of the phenocian one the wholw thing is thought to have sparked the atlantis legened (Chiken Itza)

One problem witht the map though. why does the route take them through Ice?

I guess this makes an interesting What If scenario, but the historical fiction unfortunately also makes me want to cry  Gavies didn't really back up his ideas with hard data though, it was pure sensationalism. Still, its just a game :p

Then I suggest you visit the island of Savaii in Independent Samoa and the city of Gympie is Queensland where there are astronomical mounds described by Menzies.
A closed mind gathers only dust.

As an american he should read some of his own historians. De Voto tells that one of the driving forces for the western exploration in the 17C was the tradition among the western indians that there were "yellow dwarves" trading on the west coast.
And the most precious resource for the Chinese from west coast were the Sea Otter pelts.

I'm guessing in the scenario China has a substantial lead. To balance that out, I'd suggest some type of crippling government for china (to reflect the fact that their Treasure fleet was eventually scrapped due to political considerations... perhaps a high OCN in the game, but with strong distance penalties)... high unit costs possibly as well.
