you would realize it simply wasn't logical for china to trade with native american or setup colonies there considering they had have access to the same resourses near home like SE asia and india. why setup a colony so far away where shipping cost will eat into your profit?

with the discovery of american, it was competition among europeans for new source of resources, that cause them to develop an expansionist policy of building colonies. something china doesn't have is competition, it has a strong monopoly on the regional economy. and it managed to continues its dominance of being the largest and riches economy in the entire world until the 19th century.
it is very likely china discovered american around that period; it did has historical record that descript america's location and size accurately! but it was really a sightseeing mission that achieved as much as the apollo mission. which neither case, they were unable to claim it as their own.
