1492 - Colonization of the New World, a new very VERY Col like 4X TBS indie game on the way has a Steam page setup so that fans can check out it's trailer & screenshots as well as wishlist & request to take part in early playtesting. Looks like there are 8 nations to play as too! EDIT: There's now a public demo we can play too!

Modern national flags instead of historical ones...
I notice that, too. We should get the white flag covered in gold fleur-de-lilles, the Burgundy Cross, the Prince's Colours, the blue-and-white Portuguese flag, and the orange-white-black tricolour (or even the Romanov Eagle on mustard yellow), along with the English, Swedish, and Danish ones.

Is this a spiritual successor of Conquest of the New World?
The old DOS game? I think I have it around here somewhere, even it won't play on, or even be acknowledged by, my current computer.

The original Colonization did show a blue the fleur-de-lis-flag for France during setup. However, when you played someone else and the French told you to leave "New France" in the name of their king, they did so to the tune of the Marseillaise.

I don't believe I have ever heard Marche Henri IV performed.

A few years ago, I heard it performed as the finale of Tchaikovsky's Sleeping Beauty. Never as such, and never in a video game. I'd be surprised if it weren't part of some music mod for one of the Paradox games.

For those who want to try our playtest, I am available to be buttered up with kind words about our game.
Im just saying.... :D

I'm too absorbed by a different game right now, but the screenshots almost made me try the demo ... or start my first game of Colonization since 2021.

I'm sure feedback from actual testers is more helpful, but the visuals look really good. The map art evokes a hand drawn map. It captures the Colonization atmosphere, but feels warmer (and with much sharper-looking units!) Also, it's a joy to see sidebars and windows reflecting the game theme.

Best of luck with the playtests (and sorry for first going off the flag & music tangent!)

How do you guys feel about the length of the demo?
Too short or too long?
How much time did it take you to complete the demo?

Any other comments about our demo?
