#15 spoiler

Sure they do!

If you get a unit from a hut within a certain distance from one of your cities, that unit will get support from that city!

And concerning the no city phenomenon, the main trick is to pop a few huts (4?) before using your initial settler to build a city. At least 2 horsies/chariots should be found before doing so. This way you will not have to wait several turns before your city build such a unit and you can go exploring.
The initial units are able to pop even more huts, lots of time before the AI goes exploring. And waiting to build your first city also gives you NON units from all huts. When the huts in the immediate area of the first city site are popped, the city can be built.
Thus you can gain a reasonably high amount of NON units to wipe out the AI early, very early!
:D

God yes, but I say only one. I pop one or two huts to get one mercenary, and then build a city. From then on I only pop huts which are that "certain distance" from my city; there are plenty of them. That way I have a capital by 3800 B.C. while I'm still getting an exponential amount of NON's. If you wait too long, you'll get behind the scores of those who built cities earlier.

I started out trying to explore and win peacefully, but Germany kept going to war with me and my game ended with a 100 Year's War with Germany, even though I was much weaker, I fought them to a tie.

Since a high score did not get me very far in the last GOTM I tried a fast conquest .
After i tried a few huts i build my city on the buffelo in the river and used it to build wonders like crazy.
I kep't my (NONE) troops together to maintain a good striking force .
But I did not find the other civ's soon enough, I hope the four Wonders and a finish just in the ad's make a fine score.

OK, I started. I'm disappointed in my performance so far -- probably due to mixed strategies. Needles to say I'm also disappointed -- lost two cities to the enemy:o & lost four cities to Babs!:o

Having one defender only protects the cities sometimes. Well, it is after 1800 & the cavalry is coming to the rescue:slay:

After about a year of lurking I finally finished GOTM 15 in the required time. Finished in 1877 Spaceship. I could have wiped out the Aztecs in 1000AD but I was seduced by the inertia of empire building. Somehow I never got around to building 200 engineers, though...

Grrr. I knew this would happen. I finished 2300BC.
Even after replaying I wasn´t faster than that.

But so fast with the first try on an unknown map (;)) is awesome!
:D

I finished. Ran growth out to 1848 AD and 87,620,000 people, mainly 43 cities plus a few at the end to use up my 36 Settlers.

I finished at 1848, thinking 1850 would trash my basic score.
Does anyone know?

1844 AD, got Robotics, built King Richard & 8 Freight. 30,60,10%
76,420,000 People, $1041 -323 =814, Sci 361/4, Mfg=481 Sc 1591
36 Aqua, 21 Bank, 27 Sewer, 18 MassTr, 15 Super, 2 Stock Ex, 3 Univ
Note: no Colosseums, no Factories, tho I'd eventually need Solar Plants.

I could have finished at 1550AD with 6,555,000 people, but I went on having fun building everything. I think this game went poorly because I did not build the Hanging Gardens first...

I found some interesting links about the best time to begin a revolution, but there were errors in the details.

I have a complete history, which I could post in a few days with a couple pix like I did last month, if people are interested.

I conquered another world. A fast finish for me is in mid 19th century AD. I got caught up building cities and wonders.

Ready for another one. Since the Civ # GOTm is diety I should have plenty of time for Civ 2 GOTM.
