1620 AD - Build the Taj

We can currently start building the Taj Mahal in NotA, and it will be finished in 13 turns. It will give us a free golden age that will speed up our research and production for about 10 turns.

I don't see any reason to delay building the Taj a golden age is certainly worth 13 turns of production IMO.

It's a good idea, after this we have some turns (in GA) to build Liberty.

I agree with Taj Mahal, its timing and NotA - a good hybrid - to build it.

After thinking about this a bit, I think it might be best to build it until it's 1 turn from completion. Then we should move it out of the buildqueue until we have Democracy. We will then change civics, and after the revolution we'll finish the Taj, so our golden age can be entirly devoted to building the Statue, and it won't be spoiled by a revolution.

That's assuming Taj can be built faster than Democracy researched -- is that the case?

Yes, I believe it is, at the current research speed. (Taj in 13, Democracy in like 17, could be less by increasing spending)

Could I request that we research replaceable parts before it is built? Then, our some cities can max their production and build it faster.

I think Engineering before that helps too, since the growth from added improvements should be counted in.

We need for democracy 13 turns with 60% (+5 gold),
replacable needs ~5 turns with 60%
For the war it prefer engineering, we need only 2 turns, if we chose 80% (-108 gold), we have 438 gold.

I agree, engineering is long overdue. Ignoring Engineering now will look bad I think.

Just getting clarification, but are we building the Taj now, or waiting? I need to know as NOTA is currently just completing its current build.

I think there is some consensus that the best option is to build it, but keep it one turn from completion.

Those advocating other techs that would be useful for the Taj probably aren't suggesting that we delay the build to wait for those techs (I think, correct me if I'm wrong) While these techs could improve our production ability, waiting to start the build would certainly add a greater delay than these improvements would counteract. I believe they are advocating that we research these technologies during the build so as to reduce the build time.

Not suggesting any delay; just said the research would be quicker due to

the GA brought by Taj.
