1936 Pacific tech glitches?

I've never had any problems playing the Europe map regardless of starting year. Recently, I started as America in the Pacific 1936 RtW and have encountered a few problems.

1) Upon loading my save, I get the Tech tree page... with no techs, just the back ground. IF it finishes loading, I can exit the screen and play my game. However...

2) Sometimes there simply isn't a tech tree. If I click the beaker to gaze at the tree and plan ahead, I frequently get the screen mentioned above.

3) CRASH! Not a hard crash mind you, but there are times I go to load my save and it crashes the program all together. It starts loading as if it's going to work, but when it tries to finish, it falls down goes boom.

Anyone have any similar experiences? If so, are there any fixes?

I am planning on working on the Pacific Scenario one day ... however, I doubt the tech tree problem is related to the code.

Have you tried re-installing ... you may also note Win7/Vista require a different folder for Civ4 that may help. (see sig)

Well, I'm on Vista (See frustrated posts of mine RE:Sid Meyer's Railroads and the maddening RAM issues :( ;)) and it's run just fine in until recently. Re-installing has crossed my mind but I haven't tried it just yet. Add another one to the list though. I started it up this morning and it did load up... but only the map. No tool bars of any sort. Once it finally gets around to loading properly, it plays just fine. Getting there seems to be the new issue though.

I'm also considering grabbing your version since I'm going to be tinkering with it anyway.

Thanks.

do the install like I have said in my thread

You could make a copy of your saves, just in case.
