1. what is a dds file and how do i load them

2. also when you are going through xml where do you put the item for a building that modifies produection for buildings

3. how do you make dds files

4. is it possible to make a unit for my volunteerism tech that is a volunteer
they can only be built in cities with volunteer HQ's
there only option is join city
if 5 join a city then a volunteer HQ is already created
if i try this and put 5 in a city that already has one it gives be all sorts of error messages

6. also does anyone know if it is possible:

i'm making a college influence tech and i want a building to go like this
"civadjective" university in "city name":sad: :sad:

is there a way to do this in xml??:confused: :confused: :confused:

7. can anybody suggest techs or improvments or wonders for this mod

DDS Files are Direct Draw Surfaces. They're the stuff like 3D leaderheads and units. You upload them with programs like NifSkope.
 
1. A dds file is a texture or image file used in Civ4. You'll need either:
a) XnView (which can open it but not edit it)
b) NifSkope* (which open's its 3D model and displays the texture that way)
c) An image editor with plug-ins like the GIMP or Photoshop.
d) Convert it with DDS Converter.

* This only works if the DDS is used as a texture.

2. You'll have to be more specific.

4. Python or SDK.

6. That needs Python.
