Ok my first question is how a city needs to be connected to get strategic resources. I had a city that I recently captured. It was on the otherside of the Babylonian land and was not connected my land without going through theirs. It did not have a harbor either. Yet as soon as I captured the city, I was able to build musketman. In the city resource box it had 1 iron, 1 salpeter and all the luxuries I had as well. How was it getting all the resources if it wasn't connected?

My second question is about reputation. I know all about how you hurt you rep and such but does going to war with a civ before the 20 turns of the peace treaty runs out give you a mark on your reputation? I always see the number their and try to not attack until it goes away just in case it does. So can someone tell me if it does?:crazyeye:

If your captured city is connected by road to the Babylonians and you are as well, and you are at peace with them then their road system will connect your new city to your empire. However, if you go to war with the Babylonians then you will no longer be connected to any city on the other side until you build a harbor or airport.

From all the times I have seen if you attack a civ before the 20 turns are finished you will get a bad rep with the other civs. You will also get a bad rep if you wait for the 20 turns to finish but don't declare war before attacking.

Hope this helps.

I find that the others civs always have bad opinions of me as the game progresses because I won't give them free techs and buy maps for 800 gold etc. If you want to win big, attack whenever you feel like it.. especially if they are weak. Ever since I was attacked by a civ polite to the turn he attacked, I ignore their opinions and act like the superpower I am.

Ahh, the mighty nation of Ozymandius, all AI must tremble at its coming.

Actually, their not really trembling, that's the vibrations from Ozy's tanks.......:D

Hey there Ghengis..
I seldom get to tanks, more like the cavalry charge they fear.
I can't get a handle on AI's change in attitude. It seems they are furious whenever I get ahead in tech and won't give it away free. If I want to buy they demand 700 gold, if I sell they offer 50 gold..... If I just grow my empire peacefully by building my relations still deteriorate. So my conclusion is ... if you're mad when I'm nice you might as well be mad while I conquer them all.

ditto... i supported the Persians in their war against two other civs. I GAVE them saltpeter to build musketment, I GAVE them horses to build knights and calvary and they were Gracious to me. Once their enemies were eliminated, they turned angry and annoyed with me because I would not give them techs. I had to take back my gifts and kick their ----------- back to the stone age.

And my tanks were never once beaten by their spears!
