In civ 4, I would like to see a little more on the diplomatic side. One thing is you should be able to set your stance towards other nations, such as if you are Polite, Annoyed, ect. The other thing is you should be able to offer peace talks to 2 fighting nations. This could come to the best interest of your nation if they will end up dragging you into the war later on down the line if you are not prepared.

Now, this is a good proposal! :goodjob:

Especially, as - if you would be successful - this would be memorized by the "international community" and would give you a benefit in case of the election of the UN chairman.
On the other hand, you would have to "bribe" those two or more nations by certain incentives, which could drastically influence your GNP (in case you would have to pay them some gold). But, after success, both would be very grateful and your diplomatic relations would be very strong afterwards.

I just thought of another thing! Weather! I think that weather should play a bigger role in the game. The volcano was a step towards that, but I'm thinking more like hurricanes and can wash away rodes and do damage to cities, storms that could wash away rodes and cause power outages and spawn tornados, and earthquakes that could cause new mountains, or maybe even a tidal wave. And of course, once a disaster hits another civ could donate via diplomacy.

Also I was thinking about a world newspaper. It could provide details in cases of war, or could tell you when a disaster hits. Pretty much any major development in the game, like wonders and stuff like that.

2 very good ideas :goodjob:

I would like to see both implemented.

I don't like the first one. What would it do? However the second one is great. Be the peacemaker!
And no, don't make weather!! I hate those random events. They're alway bad.

You would do it in the diplomatic screen. Also, I would like to have better more intense diplomatic meetings. Have like the two world leaders meet at a table with advisors or something.

What are you talking about, random events are great!

Firaxis generally needs to look at SMAC and Civ2 diplomacy, lots of useful things there they left out in Civ3 for some reason.

No. Not very practical in a turn based game. At least in my opinion.

I do like anything that improves the diplomacy aspect of the game.

It all depends on your point of view. Random events should not be game breakers or game winners. Therefore, they have to be realativly minor events that can eaisly be brushed aside and if that is the case, why even botehr implementing them? I do however like volcanos but would not be overly upset if the whole random event idea was scrapped.

It would seem strange to have weather, particularly when each turn is worth years of time. Maybe hurricanes and other major natural disasters (like volcanoes) would be interesting, but not day-to-day weather.
