I already posted this on the FAQ forum, but with all the posts, I guess no one noticed this, so I'm posting it in a new thread.

Two questions:

1. How do I see other Civs total culture points at any given time?

Iam preparing a spreadsheet for statistical analysis, and therefore I want to be able to compare them to mine. So, it doesn’t matter, if it is a cheat or something. I already tried the “multi” savegame cheat, but I still cannot find anywhere that info about the other Civs.

2. How to make Civ3 name *by default* the savegame file in a different way than the usual?
Example: "1230AD.sav" instead of "Caesar King from Romans, 1230Ad.sav".

Thanks in advance. :)

to see the other civ's culture you hit F5 or F6, not sure, one of them shows the culture and one shows the wonders. I think that is what you are talking about.

Hope it helps [pimp]

1. I think try the Civ3SavEdit under the TGC Editor thread from the utility group. You can switch your playing civ. I'm not sure the game is still playable cause every time I've tried, the FOW isn't right & resources are screwed up. However, the Culture points could be right. I've used it to get land area & territory score from the other civs (in experiments, of course!). I didn't make it though, so I only assume it's right (and it does look right).

Then, of course, just go to their civ culture screen... :)

What kind of analysis, may I ask?

1. Using the utility program chiefpaco mentioned is probably the easiest way. Using the multi cheat it is possible to do this but takes so much longer. Using the multi cheat you could zoom in to each city and write down the culture points each city has (and the cp per turn) , write it down on a paper somewhere and add them up manually. Of course this would change as the cities add more improvements, or improvements get destroyed, or cities captured, but you could make a pretty close estimate for the culture points/turn. I imagine this method would take a very long time to do on a huge map with several civs.

Thank you for your help.

I didn't reply earlier because I couldn't! First it was my ISP, that was down most of the time during the past few days, and then it was CivFanatics down again... :(

I tried the Gramphos Civ3 MultiTool. It seems to be a very useful tool. However, it does not allow me to play by another Civ, or at least I didn't figure out how to do that...

So, I'm still out of luck... :(

Now answering your question:
I've been doing an Excel spreadsheet which will allow you to collect and analize several data from the game.
I already did a few things, but I'm not happy yet (I'm a stupid perfectionist :) ), so I'm not publishing it yet.

In fact, I've been following your thread about the "Territory formula", which I think is wonderful! You're doing a great job on that one, and that one is one of the reasons I'm delaying my posting, because I would like to come up with some kind of formula for that also. ;)

You and SirPleb, along with many others, will be credited for your work on a whole page of my spreadsheet! So, don't need to get worried about that! :)

Thank you too. I already came across that ideia, but it's so boring and exhausting to count that I'm prefering to investigate to find out some utility that does that. I hate counting things! That's why I spend lots of time doing formulas and the likes! :)

I prefer to spend two hours working up a formula to calculate something (from then on, and forever) than to spend just an hour counting it everytime.

I will try to find other utilities.

If however, some of you know how to decode the .sav file format, please let me know. I could almost bet that, that information is stored there somewhere. ;)
Perhaps I will try to pursuade Gramphos to put that info on his tool. :)

I hope to publish my spreadsheet in a few days. I will also publish a few help files, which I did in photoshop, to help you plan your cities in a very confortable way, while you are playing.

Stay tuned! :)

It's good to know someone is following my footsteps here & even answering all my questions (thouroghly, none the less)! Thanks, Silvagem. If you still want the TGC editor, which does let you switch your playing civ, 1 at a time, it's:

Yeah, & CC me the day Gramphos reveals the sacred secrets :D
