Hey first post here, meant to post sooner but aparently civfanatics doesn't like comcast email addresses.

Anyways the Shoshone Pathfinder in the game i just made has a str of 1. I am pretty sure its supposed to be higher then that (on par with warriors like an 8)

Welcome apollo326

Yes you are correct.
I just started a game to verify and I too have it at 1:c5strength:

Testing out something and it was omitted in the change.

Fixing now.

Thank you, I fixed this for the next release.

I'm trying to figure out how Firaxis made the Shoshone start with a scout instead of a warrior, and was testing a theory it picks the strongest defensive unit. This turned out to not work. I forgot to change it back.

Also another question related to the Shoshone Pathfinder....

scouts have a cost of like 60 :c5production:
warriors have a cost of like 70 :c5production:
but the Pathfinder was costing 110 :c5production:

is that Intentional? I understand their good but is almost doubling their cost really needed? (I didnt check if this was changed in version 3.1.2)

Edit: as of 3.1.2 Pathfinders have 10 :c5strength: but upgrade into spearman that have 9 :c5strength:

as with my above question wouldn't it be better to lower their strength and lower their cost? Another solution is to let them skip an upgrade and let them go until pikeman to let the Shoshone build more of them. I was only able to build 2 before discovering technologies obsoleted them.

UUs in general should get a delayed upgrade path. Cost and strength for Pathfinder should be similar to regular scouts, but higher strength and slightly higher cost.

I really like the Pathfinder unit.

I purposely delayed Bronze Working to postpone the inevitable upgrade.

Even with a delayed upgrade req. the scout -- spearman path seems to me, odd.

I really like the pathfinder as well I was just mentioning above I unintentionally discoverd bronze workings which made it so that I could no longer construct them.

So instead of making the awesome pathfinders with 10 :c5strength: I could only make spearmen with 9 :c5strength:.

Making something obsolete so quickly I believe is a terrible idea in the early game.

Jaguars also upgrade to spearmen, which doesn't seem to make sense either.

Thal mentions somewhere that he has the warrior UUs upgrade to spearmen in the case you don't have iron.

That makes some sense, but now that spearmen and swordsmen have completely different promotions, I'd say you should find a way to buy some iron from another civ and follow the regular upgrade path.

ITC with the woodsman promotion is pretty broken from a balance perspective, and having a front-line drink-the-enemy's-blood soldier upgrade into one with purely defensive bonuses doesn't make a lot of sense thematically.

The UU bonuses should carry over to the upgraded Spearman

Jaguar with Woodsman = Spearman with Woodsman
etc.

Plus these Spearmen have Defense bonuses of 25% against Mounted & 10% Defense
