playing with Vikings on regent level

invaded Greece and they came at me with a Stack of Doom consisting of 70+ units - no match against my fortified mechs

in the ensuing battle I popped 3 GL's - all in one turn

I can't remember getting more than one in a whole battle much less a turn

and 3...wow

Bamspeedy got 11 in one turn in his Beyond Sid game...

Lady RNG is a fickle mistress.

do you think that it's a function of the difficulty level or just random chance?

Considering he was killing huge amounts of units per turn, I think it was expected.

It's random... damn RNG! I'm playing a game in which i've been almost always at war from 1420BC to 1400AD, and i've popped a measley 5 leaders so far!

EDIT: 1/16 chance to poop a leader from an elite, 1/12 if the Heroic Epic is built.

You were defending and popped 3 leaders in one turn? I don't think that it was possible since you can't have more than 1 at a time and if you are defending, you can not use a leader until your turn.

I've been thinking that map size affects possibility to pop leader. When I've played with large maps, I've allways manged to get leader even at the quite start of the game. Now I've played few small and standard games and very rare got any leader. And allways with militaristic civ.

Militaristic doesn't affect the chances for leaders... they just get you more elite units...

no I was on attack - they used up most of their offensive units trying to dislodge me

I popped the GL's finishing off their remaining stacks of infantry and hoplites with my armies of MA and mechs

I would estimate that I performed at least 50 attacks in the turn - based on the odds above I guess it would be reasonable to get 3 GL's (Epic already built)

my record is four in one turn.

here is a mistake to avoid:

suppose you like to move all your workers first to "get that out of the way" and then do all your bombardment to "get it out of the way" then all your offensive strikes followed by all your detail work and micromanaging (including figuring out what to do with your one new leader) followed by ...

did you all spot the error? when you get a new leader you must convert him to an army IMMEDIATELY (or rush an improvement or whatever) or else you will have no chance to get additional leaders from the rest of your battles. you can only have one leader on the map at a time though an empty army does not count as a "leader". if you have never gotten more than one leader on your turn it is just possible that this is why.

On the topic of leaders, I've read multiple times that it's not possible to spawn more than one SGL... but this is untrue..

A game I was playing a few days ago (I was going to save the .sav but forgot) I had an SGL fortified in my capitol and spawned another SGL in my second biggest city...

there were a few strange circumstances.. like I noticed half way through the game that my Palace was missing (I guess it got destroyed in riots?) so the game might have changed my capitol to the other city, and that's why the 2nd SGL spawned there and the first one remained.

PS. being able to rush two wonders in one turn is pretty awesome ;)

If you have a SGL, however, I don't think you can get a MGL.

Or was it that if you had a MGL, you couldn't get a SGL or a MGL?

I can never remember this rule.

How is that? I've several MGL's running around at the same sime

Sealman's right. You could not have possibly seen several MGLs running around at the same time.

Did they change anything from vanillia to C3C?

It most likely because you have more land, cities and units on larger maps. More units >>> more battles >>> more elites >>> even more battles >>> more great leaders.

If you have any kind of leader, you can not get a MGL. Period. So if you have a MGL, you won't get another one until you use it. If you have a SGL and are trying to get a MGL, you won't. I actually had a thread on this back when I first got Conquests. I was saving a SGL for a wonder, and having elite victories left and right. Something like 30 or 40 wins, I don't remember, and no MGL. I used the SGL to rush my wonder, and the third elite win after that I got my MGL.

If you have a MGL or SGL, you can get another SGL.
